Swami Dayanand and Arya Samajis have propagated nonsense in the name of Niyoga, and have encouraged men and women to have upto 11 illicit sexual relations. In this regard, here are some Vedic Mantras that Swami Dayanand has literally butchered in their meanings. (1/n)

^ Swami Dayanand's translation is ludicrous (4/n)
From the Mantra it is clear that there is absolutely no mention of either a widow or any authorised gain of children from any other man(through Niyoga). The Mantra is a prayer to Indra to bless the woman with ten children (sons and daughters) who are living and not dead, ..(6/n)
... and including her husband who is living, make her a woman who has 11 people.

Why does Swami Dayanand feel the need to invoke Niyoga in this Mantra and why does he butcher its meaning? (7/n)
Additionally he goes on to state that a woman can have Niyoga with a maximum of 11 men to obtain children!

This is the most laughable example of how someone has butchered the entire meaning of a Mantra.. (10/n)
... due to his fascination for Niyoga so much so that he has even contradicted the very meaning of Niyoga (authorisation) and has asked women to choose any man of their liking and bear children from him. (11/n)

From the mantra it is clear that the widow is called to live in the world in her husband's house instead of sleeping beside her dead husband and neglecting her duties.

(13/n)
She should make her child the centre of her life and live with him, fulfilling her duties as a mother. Nowhere does the Mantra talk about taking another man right after her husband is dead, and bearing more children with him. If that is what the Mantra mandates,... (14/n)
... then this would mean every widow has to compulsorily marry again after her husband is dead! What a pathetic butchering of the Mantra!

Swami Dayanand's analysis -

This is a very shameful idea that a woman can go on to have 11 men for sex and the first three men will be akin to Soma, Gandharva and Agni, ... (18/n)
... while the men numbering 4 to 11 will be akin to Manushya. These are the ideas of Swami Dayanand, the founder of Arya Samaj.

The Mantra refers to the process of a woman having three divine protectors akin to husbands in different stages of life prior to her marriage with a human... (21/n)
.. These are Soma, Gandharva and Agni. When she is a child, Soma blesses her with कौमार्य , when she enters puberty, gandharva blesses her with womanly attributes and यौवन, and eventually gandharv gives her to Agni who blesses her with संस्कार in विवाह, .. (22/n)
.. which are the basis of prosperity and children, and finally she is delivered to her human lord.

The contrast between the original meaning of the Mantras and that propounded by Swami Dayananad is stark... (23/n)
.. Dayanand interprets the Mantras as demanding no less than 10 children from a woman through Niyoga with 10 different men. And ignores the fact that the Devas like Soma, Gandharv and Agni are protectors before a woman's marriage,.. (24/n)
..instead he declares the first three males she has sex with as Soma, Gandharv and Agni, who apparently pass her from one to the next in a despicable fashion to have Niyoga...(25/n)
These Vedic Mantras speak nothing of Niyoga, which is an exceptional process that requires due authorisation from the Kula of the husband who is deceased and there is absolutely no male descendant left in the family to fulfill the debts to the Pitris. (26/n)
It has to be done merely for the attainment of one male child (according to most law-givers) in case there is no appointed descendant. It is a very rare occurence and certainly does not involve having sex with 11 different men, 1 of which is your own husband,.. (27/n)
and the other 10 are different men, according to Dayanand and Arya Samaj.. (28/n)
