Diane Nash, Bernice Johnson Reagon, Judy Richardson, and Dorie Ladner are just a few of the Civil Rights hereos still walking among us who deserve their flowers.
Ruby Bridges is 65. She was only six years old when she became the first child to integrate a school. Six.
Claudette Colvin, best known for refusing to give her seat up on a bus in Montgomery at age 15, is now 80. She lives in the Bronx.
I could keep going. “Hands on the Freedom Plow” is necessary reading. Many of the Black women activists who contributed their stories to this book are still living. We need to lift them up and honor their sacrifices while they’re with us.
highly recommend folks follow @snccdigital and visit their website. This page includes bios of SNCC affiliated Civil Rights activists. https://snccdigital.org/category/people/
