Kylie Kilroy never wanted to be famous. She still isn’t really.

She’s only featured in a few media articles over the years.

But Kylie is dying.

And she wants you to remember her story. #watergate
I did a lengthy thread last year about Kylie & what happened to her life after she was flooded out by the levy banks at Kia Ora.

Kia Ora is the property at the centre of the #watergate buybacks controversy.

In 2011 it was owned by Eastern Aust Agriculture.

Yes, that one.
Because the levy banks on that farm were built so high (9 metres in parts) they impeded the natural water flow of the Balonne river in flood.

And so Kylie and her husband and animals, on their little farm opposite Kia Ora, were destroyed by the flood.

.
Their property was severely flooded by the Balonne river because the massive dam walls of the property opposite, Kia Ora, would not allow the water to flow away.

The water could not flow away along its natural path and submerged Kylie’s property.
.
Her beloved horse stood in the flood water for days & had to be destroyed.

So much was destroyed.

@qwadja
They lost animals and machinery and pieces of their soul, but they pushed on.

Kylie spent months cleaning up the damp, mouldy property - the mess.

As a result of her that, Kylie inhaled microscopic bacteria and developed NonTuberculous Mycobacteria.

.
That was 9 years ago and today, Kylie is in palliative care, unable to breath as a result of the disease in her lungs.

She is on a morphine drip.

She has told us she may only have a short time, maybe a few weeks, left.

She has given her permission to share this.
Kylie remembers she & her husband were flooded again in the same circumstances in 2013.

Again Kylie cleaned up the wet mouldy house - unaware of the hidden damage lying in her lungs.

Water was everywhere because that’s what the big farms there exist for – water, water, water.
That water was so important to Eastern Aust Ag that despite the obvious damage to surrounding properties, they kept their massive dam walls up.

Which was lucky.

Because in 2017, Barnaby Joyce’s department paid them $79.8 millions for it.

All that precious flood water.
As everybody now knows, that almost $80 million went straight to the Cayman Islands. It was paid out to all the overseas investors.

We think. Because nobody knows where the money went really.

But by 2017 Kylie was getting very sick.

She was given the bad news about her lungs.
The news was that the disease she contracted cleaning up after those mouldy, dirty floods would eventually kill her.

And today Kylie has very little time left.

Kylie suspects however, this would be of little interest to the people who profited from that $80 million sale.

.
It would be nice to think that one of the people responsible for the unrestrained flood of greed would contact Kylie in her dying days.

Nice to think they’d offer compensation or something to look after the son she will leave behind.

Nice to think that indeed.
But for now, let's simply remember this.

"Can I say right from the start, this is . . . about the person in the weatherboard and iron.

Something that manifestly expresses what the National Party is about."
