➡️ So who are the PSNI and why does this matter to #BLM and racial justice?

➡️ 1. PSNI provide a section of PSNI Larne station for NI's immigration detention centre: Poor conditions and inadequate facilities for traumatised people needlessly incarcerated here.

➡️ 2. PSNI are an arm of the Tories' racist 'Hostile Environment'. Last year, we know that training was rolled out to officers how on how to run immigration check with no automatic exclusion in the training for victims of crimes who put themselves at risk by reporting a crime.
➡️ 3. PSNI have been found to be providing information on foreign nationals or people who have insecure immigration status to Home Office under Operation Nexus, the same Operation Nexus that saw the Jamaican deportation flight ahead of Windrush findings.
➡️ 3. (CONT) Local immigration lawyers had raised concerns that the pattern of deportation appeals in N.I indicates that it is operating in a clandestine manner. A FOI request made confirmed that between 01/03/16-31/03/17 46 individuals were referred to the Home Office by PSNI.
➡️ 4. PSNI repeatedly refuse to deal with racial intimidation leading to POC families being displaced from their homes, with a victim in a case in Belfast being told by PSNI 'sorry, paramilitaries are involved’.
➡️ 5. PSNI are an integral part of ‘Operation Bi-Vector’, a UK-wide counter terrorism operation run by the intelligence branch of the PSNI in the Common Travel Area. What is known is that its powers have been used 12,479 times in Northern Ireland in 2013-2016.
➡️5. (CONT) Despite the high number of stops, in NONE of the cases was anyone detained for counter-terror purposes. However rather than being released, individuals were handed over to immigration authorities.
