Underrated players that were some of my favorites to watch when growing up. From the past 8-9 years.

Santi Cazorla - Loved watching this spanish magician. Showed incredible quality despite being one of the smallest players on the pitch. Dribbling, flair, control, the man had it all!
Claudio Marchisio - One of the most underrated midfielders of all time in my opinion. Could do everything, a #6,8,10 all in one. Loved how he would control a game and a great passer of the ball. Juventus Legend.
Mario Mandžukić - An unsung hero in Bayern’s treble winning season. A menace in the penalty area. Fantastic header of the ball and could finish an chance. Loved his aggression against opposing defenders as well.
Marquinhos - A great ball-playing defender. Reads the game very well, great tackler, threat on set pieces and has improved after every season. Recently been used in a “hybrid” role which sees him play in Defensive Midfield. In my opinion one of the most underrated defenders itw.
Ivan Rakitic - An incredibly under appreciated player. Has fantastic vision, great range of passing and can switch play very nicely. Struggled in recent seasons due to different styles of managers but no denying that his best years where under Luis Enrique.
Koke - Someone who isn’t talked about enough. For many seasons Koke has had to play in positions that aren’t natural to him, which potentially cause him to miss out on any recognition. An incredibly hardworking player that has been the heartbeat of Atletico for years. World class
Adam Lallana - Great player at Southampton and was evident that he would be an integral piece to Klopp’s puzzle. Over the years he’s turned into a squad player and when called upon he’s always reliable. His control, tenacity, and the Cruyff turn. Gonna miss him.
Stephan El Shaarawy - Might raise a few eyebrows, I really bought the hype when this guy came on to the scene. Had pace, flair, goal-scoring, and versatility while playing for a club that could have turned him into a superstar. Unfortunately, he hasn’t really lived up to the
potential he set out years ago. I enjoyed his skill and flair on the ball, had great finishing as well.
Miralem Pjanić - I’ve enjoyed watching this man play in different areas of midfield throughout the years. Thriving in a more creative role at Lyon and Roma. At Juve he’s molded into a deeper position and dictates the game so so well. He’s great at linking up play,
also showing an incredible passing range.
Oscar Cardozo - Might be unknown for some people, but anyone familiar with the Portuguese league knows exactly who this is. “Tacuara” had a rocket for a left foot, brilliant header of the ball, time and time again coming up big for Benfica. One of my favorite strikers of all time
solely because of his impact on and off the field. Really looked up to this guy, was gutted when he left.
Marco Reus - Someone who really caught my attention when he played. I remember watching him during his first season at Dortmund (12-13) forming a lethal attack alongside the likes of Gotze and Lewandowski. I loved how much of an all round player this guy was, could use both feet,
dribble, shoot from range, pace and very direct as well. If it weren’t for his injuries he could’ve been one of the best players during the 2010s.
Mesut Ă–zil (Mainly at Real Madrid) - One of the first players that made me fall in love of football. Growing up watching Real, i loved his close control, creativity, passing, vision, the list goes on. Watching him play with Benzema and Ronaldo was a privilege.
I’ve also enjoyed him at arsenal. Playing with the likes of Cazorla, Sanchez, and Wilshere to name a few.
