[SimplyStory]: Consistent and effective execution of principles will be a lessons for many more years to come.
Even if it seems unreasonable at first.
One day I had to teach my class that came from PE.
The boys were full of testosterone and endorphins, so they were quite loud.

Now I can fully understand that if you've just played baseball, a sport where you get to swing and run like hell, sitting on the same chair with your head down for two hours is basically torture.
Nevertheless, what must be taught, must be taught.
So we started the class...

So we started the class...
After intriguing everyone with the intro about muscles and connecting it to what happened to the muscles during baseball, they went to work.
But do you think that those piles pf raging hormones would sit still for very long?
Hahaha!
What started off as whispers...

That I could shush for a few minutes, became chuckles, talks etc.
I gave everyone some room to talk, flex and even did some exercise involving movement.
Alas, teaching biology inside is just not where it's potential lies.
Inevitably, there had to be consequences.

3 strikes.
The first one had everyone quiet. A loud voice through the classroom telling them a bit of talking was okay, but keep the volume down, worked wonders.
The second one, a little escalation on the first after 20 minutes, worked as well.
But yeah, number three...

But yeah, number three...
Looking everyone in the eye one by one I yelled:
"Alright, If you aren't disciplined enough to keep the talking to a minimum volume, then how about this: the next person to open their mouths, gets 2 hours of detention!"
My eyes fixed on the most quiet person in the class.

This was the principle:
I gave them the right to talk in my class, but on a whispering volume.
In this case they didn't respect it, thrice, so I took that right away.
That is execution of a principle.
Consistency means to uphold it no matter what.
"I'm sorry" said...

The most quiet person that I looked at because I was finished with my sentence...
The young lady who I had never heard anything bad about from my colleagues and possibly the sweetest among the students.
Yep...
"[name], get out!"
I had to give her 2 hours of detention...

I had to give her 2 hours of detention...
She thought I was adressing her specifically at the end.
Did she deserve 2 hours of detention?
Nah. No one, unless they did it on purpose, deserved that.
But that's where consistency is key.
Because by doing that, they knew.
I meant what I said.
No one talked the next hour.

After school I went to the detention room and called her out.
She had cried.
I explained to her what I just explained to you and I told her that she could leave detention if she wanted to.
Surprisingly, she refused.
"If that's the case, I should sit it out." She said.

"If that's the case, I should sit it out." She said.
She understood exactly why and she also understood why her sitting out the 2 hours was important.
3 years later, I got an email from her thanking me for that lesson.
It made her take up serious principles and she could make decisions without hesitations because of them.

She learned a valuable lesson, even 3 years after the event.
And the rest of the class understood: I am extremely lenient, but once you misuse that leniency, there are consequences.
You might seem unreasonable, be hated, or mocked at first.
But regardless: do what's right.

Take up principles that lead to a path of creation.
Regardless of their short term outcomes.
And I promise you, everything in life will fall into place.
Stay good, be human!
