When I think about the wonderful opening ceremony at #London2012, of our diverse and celebrated Team GB, of the way the British crowd gave a standing ovation to the first ever Saudi Arabian female athlete I feel we've since fucked up a bit somewhere along the way.
I didn't see #London2012 as an example of where we were as a nation (it was Cameron's coalition government and we don't get what we have now without his fetid input) but as an example of what it was POSSIBLE for us to be. 2012 was a time of possibility. I want to feel like that.
But if it's hope you're after...I have more optimism for a better world than I did before the pandemic. If anything it's acted as a magnifying glass on the ineptitude and cruelty of some world leaders and though things seem bleak now elections happen and regimes fall.
