Scotland enjoys objectively less sovereignty from London than the UK did from Brussels and is more economically integrated into the UK than the UK is into the EU.

The independence debate promises to be Brexit on steroids.

I've preemptively broken my irony meter as a precaution.
Both sides are going to be infuriating by the way.

Brexiteers who assured me that "it's not about trade", that "businesses just adjust" and that an independent trade and regulatory policy magically fixes all woes will suddenly discover a nuanced understanding of border friction.
At the same time, Remainers who yelled it's unconscionable to put up barriers to 45% of the UK's exports will be a lot more relaxed about Scotland wacking a goods border between it and 60% of its current export clientele.

I dread the first SNP talking point on "smart borders".
