What a year. Massive well done to all. And in particular to Heads, for whom the last 6 months have been brutal, often without thanks, or praise, or respite. Here's hoping the next 6 weeks might give a little of the latter if nothing else.
To those Heads not sure if they want to do this anymore, if the aggro just feels more than is worth bearing: please stay. We need you. Now more than ever.
To those Heads feeling bruised, unsupported, lonely, exhausted, underappreciated: please stay. We need you. You've been amazing and without you things would have been much worse.
And to those Heads feeling fearful, anxious, about the new term, about Ofsted(!), about finances, about staffing, about curriculum, about attendance, about safeguarding, and myriad other things... all will be well. Because you're there, all will be well.
Lastly, ignore the noisy tweets from those who got gifts from their staff, or their governors, or their parents. Its a small thing. It says no more about you than it does about them. You've been great. And those who count know it.
