No disrespect to the poster at all. I'm jealous of the optimism. However, I do reject the "both-sidesism" of this sentiment.
There is absolutely a difference between;
NMD - Sexism, white supremacy, Islamaphobia, anti-semitism.
Marginalized Groups - *existing*
False equivalency. https://twitter.com/Electerald/status/1284221379877974017

This is not a "both sides are as bad as each other". Yeah, name-calling isn't good on either side but what matters is motive and/or outcome.
One side is indisputably toxic and motivated by hate and bigotry.
The other side just wants to be here and watch a show they like.

If one side says "No, women, black people or others I take issue with should not be on TV and they're impossible to hire based on talent" and the other responds with "No...you twat"...the latter is not automatically bad because they used an insult.
The reason I draw a line on a false equivalency here is because this is genuinely the situation within the fandom.
Media: The 13th Doctor is Jodie Whittaker. Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole are companions. That's it.
"Fans": We hate you SPECIFICALLY because of your gender & skin.

We can't have 3rd Parties going "Can't we all just get along? ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯"
No, because one side will not be satisfied until women and non-whites are wiped from media. Because, make no mistake, that IS the endgame here. It's why they don't stop at shows like 'Doctor Who'.

If I was a boss at a workplace and I discovered that one of my employees was one of these prominent YouTubers or Bloggers or whatever, I would be forced to fire them. Not because of "different opinions" because these people are a clear and present danger to co-workers.
If I find out my employee spouts white supremacy online to thousands of people, would it not be my duty to my non-white or non-male employees to make sure that they are not inhabiting a space with someone wishes active, deliberate harm against them?
Legit question.
Legit question.
This is what we mean by it not being enough to not be racist, but we have to be ANTI-acist.
I apologise for the animal comparison here but do you let a Fox into a Chicken Coop KNOWING the Fox wants to rip apart those Chickens...and the Fox is also a Nazi?

It's not a good thing that we are in this position as a fandom or as a society as a whole, but it's the reality.
We cannot have compromise when one side wants the other to stop *existing*.
No. You do not compromise, you do not negotiate and you do not enable.
