I’m sorry (not sorry) but I will not be participating in the establishment’s desired narrative around this moment. This is another day that exposes all the ways America refuses to repent for its original sins.
This is another one of those times where America is going to try to present a Disneyfied version of reality and every fiber of my being is incensed with the knowledge of how false that is.
I absolutely feel it is important to mourn the loss of these civil rights legends & to let that be & breathe apart from everything else.
I also absolutely feel we can‘t allow ppl to act like everything they fought for has been resolved when ppl are being beaten by police TODAY.

To me it’s not about despair or pessimism— I believe in John Lewis’ message of remaining hopeful, we must— it’s about understanding what you’re actually talking about when you say “fight the fight.” Because a lot of the folks saying it right now are the ones who are killing us.
Don’t talk about “fight the good fight” unless you’re really about it. That’s an insult. That’s a lie. That’s a blasphemy.
Folks are saying Trump should say something. We don’t need him to say anything. We know who he is and where he stands.
We don’t need anymore platitudes.

I don’t want to hear politicians share their fave John Lewis quote.
I want to know what they’ll do TODAY about police beating people in the street TODAY & the attack on voting rights that is happening TODAY & the racism that’s killing us TODAY.
Y’all can keep the rest.
