Great things about all US Presidents (except a few)

I hope you all share this and show people that despite some flaws many of these men did what they viewed as correct for America. Some of my history may be rusty. Will try to be as accurate as possible. Short and sweet
George Washington:

Besides perseverance despite numerous setback.
Washington also helped establish the social norms for the presidency.
Washington refused to be crowned King something that boggled the minds of many.
"I do not think myself equal to the command I am honored with.”
John Adams:

Decent President enacted strict immigration controls that helped America establish it's economy and it's citizens from being undercut by the numerous poor serfs who wanted to come here.
Had a immense dislike for Media and put in strict controls of what they can say.
Thomas Jefferson:

-Doubled the Size of the United States of America
-Authored numerous documents that we still use as the foundation for our law today.
-Despite claims their was no evidence he slept with his slaves. At best it was his cousin whom we have evidence did so.
James Madison:

-Helped Draft the Bill of Rights
-Considered Father of the Consitiution
-Further established American cities, by investing heavily into infrastructure.
-Rebuild and rebuffed the British attempt to harm the fledgling nation.
James Monroe:

-Established the Monroe Doctrine this essentially allowed numerous nations to free themselves (the western hemisphere) from other European nations.
-Purchased Flordia...I'm sure many people would say thank you.
John Quincy Adams:

-He proposed that the Federal Government bring the sections together with a network of highways and canals, and that it develop and conserve the public domain, using funds from the sale of public lands.

A Shame we didn't continue this tradition.
Andrew Jackson:

-In his first Annual Message to Congress, Jackson recommended eliminating the Electoral College.
-believed Government duties could be “so plain and simple” that offices should rotate among deserving applicants.
-Opposed establishment of Federal Banks.
Martin Van Buren:

-The son of a tavernkeeper and farmer, in Kinderhook, New York.
-Crushed the federal and state banking system even if it cost him popularity with the people.
-Generally opposed the expansion of slavery.
William Henry Harrison:

-When he died the Whig ideals died with him.
-Had a remarkable life.
-Not much else to say since he died so quickly.
John Tyler:

-Opposed expansion of federal govt.
-Championed the Log-Cabin Act which helped settlers of American decent get some money to buy land in what was then the frontier.
-Gained land from Canada so they can kick rocks.
James K. Polk:

-Gained Oregon and California in territory.
-Avoided war with British who were still a powerful nation.
-Beat Mexico and annexed Texas.
Zachary Taylor:

-Strong nationalist
-Opposed the South leaving the union and fought for them to compromise on a middle ground solution.
-Encouraged territories to apply for statehood
-Captured Mexico City as a general of the American Armed Forces.
Millard Fillmore:

-Last President not to be associated with a political party.
-Sadly not much positives for this man he was not a bold leader and fought to hard to make weak compromises that only hurt the unity of American states.
Franklin Pierce:

-Not much to say he was a president caught up in the events and didn't lead.
-Never said I was gonna praise all of them.
-Generally not much of interest. He gained some land for the US.
Lincoln:

-There isn't much I can say that people don't already know.
-Despite an expansion of Federal power he did keep the North organized enough to win the war and emancipated the slaves.
-He didn't get to accomplish much else due to the war.
James Buchanan:

-Like Franklin Pierce wasn't all that impressive. Allowed others to control the situations and mostly just did what the party wanted.
-Arguably is the reason the civil war spun out of control.
Andrew Johnson:

-Unremarkable
-Trying to clean up the aftermath of the war and mostly failed.
-Will be forgotten in annuals of history.
Ulysses S. Grant:

-Arguably one of the best presidents of the era going back at least until the first 5 to 6 presidents.
-Aided in rebuilding the south.
-Ensured rights of slaves and Native Americans.
-Gave Confederates Full Military Honors
-His memoirs are a must read.
Rutherford B. Hayes:

-So well liked he was even stumped for on the campaign trail by Mark Twain himself.
-Insisted all political appointments be made on merit
-Decided to serve only 1 term and did his best to amend issues with the south.
James A. Garfield:

-As the last of the log cabin Presidents, James A. Garfield attacked political corruption.
-Driving force behind establishing economic ties particularly in Asia and pacific ocean.
-Opposed speculative monetary policies.

A solid president.
Chester A. Arthur:

-ASKED congress to lower tariffs (btw tariffs > Taxes) due to them having a high annual surplus.
-Managed the economy expertly
-Increased trade deals with nations abroad giving America much more worldwide prestige.
Benjamin Harrison:

-The mad lad got us Hawaii and established closer relationships with many South American nations for trade.
-Besides that pretty standard presidency.
Grover Cleveland:

-Broke up big Railroad and them destroying Buffalo herds.
-Established a postal service and federally enforced it with the army stop the railroad strikes.
-Began the process of building American cities infrastructure.
-The "Wild West" was beginning to be tamed
