Thread of important moments in the Boruto anime that prove it is in fact canon.

First of all the creators have explicitly said the anime is supervised by Kodachi and is thus canon

I know that is not enough to convince some people, so let’s get into the proof!

1. Sumire

Sumire is an important character in the Boruto series that was introduced in the first arc of the Boruto anime. Later on she shows up in the manga.

2. Jougan

Boruto’s unique eye power has only shown up once in the Boruto manga in the flash forward in chapter 1. In the anime the Jougan has shown up many times and we have learned more about what it does. We also saw the first time Boruto awakened it.

3. Field trip arc

The anime arc where Boruto and his class take a field trip to the hidden mist is referenced in the manga

4. Onoki’s Death

Onoki, a major character in Naruto Shippuden, dies in an anime only episode of Boruto.

5. Sumire joining the scientific ninja tool research team

When we are first shown Sumire in the manga she has quit being a normal ninja but we’re never told why. This question is answered later in the anime and is a crucial piece of character development.

6. Chocho’s butterfly mode

In the Boruto anime we see Chocho learn how to use perfect butterfly mode which is a major part of her character development.

7. Prison arc

In the anime, the Mujina bandits arc is extended with an anime original prologue. These episodes give us a much better understanding of who the Mujina Bandits are.

8. Deepa

Deepa is an inner member of Kara who is making his first appearance in the Boruto anime.

9. Graduation Exam

In the anime we get to see Boruto and his class take the academy graduation exam and become ninjas. This is an important event in Boruto’s life that wasn’t shown in the manga.

10. Team 7’s first mission

Once again this is another major event in Boruto’s life that wasn’t shown in the manga.

11. Character Development

The Boruto manga only focuses on telling the general plot of the series and leaves most character development for the anime to handle. Many side characters don’t get a chance to shine in the manga while they are given focus in the anime.
