Advice to the young ones that follow me:
Go to community college for at least your first 60 credit hours. The cheaper tuition is EVERYTHING. It’s online now anyway so knock out your core classes at a CC.

Save your bread and buy your first car cash. You only need to spend like $5k max. Buy a Honda or a Toyota and take care of it. You don’t need a car note when you’re just starting out. No car note + basic car insurance + a car that’s good on gas = the life.
Get a roommate or a small studio apartment. You don’t need the luxury condo starting out. Rent a house with a few likeminded friends and save your bread.
Grocery shop and don’t make it a habit to eat out a lot. Once you make it a habit... when you do start earning more money.... you will continue your bad habit and it will eat your pockets alive. Learn to cook and remind yourself “there’s food at home”.
Don’t impulse shop. If you see something you like/want, sleep on it. Add it to a wishlist or bookmark it for later. If you can’t buy 3 without being financially hurt, don’t buy 1. Impulse buys will kill your pockets.
Learn a marketable skill outside of your day job. It can be whatever... how to trade, grow, resell, build websites, fix phones/computers..... pick something and master it. You’ll always have an income stream to fall back on, no matter what.
Take care of your body. You don’t wanna be burned out and out of shape by 30. Don’t wait until it’s too late to get in shape. Workout every week. Drink plenty of water. Cut out soda and candy and other processed shit. Cut back on the fried shit. Remember... moderation.
There will always be another party, event, brunch... etc. (I know you’re thinking about covid but hear me out). There will always be something else. Always. There will be social events of some sort someday. Missing one to handle your business or rest isn’t the end of the world.
Read as many books as possible. Take advantage of the local library. Treat yourself to new things. Go places alone. Take a road trip by yourself. The people around you may not be permanent and that’s ok. Get used to being your own person.
Romantic relationships aren’t the whole world. Don’t take them seriously until at least 25/26 and even then, handle your business first. Don’t let “being in love” get in the way of you doing what needs to be done in your life. Don’t let anyone hold you back. You know if they are.
If people are meant to be in your life they will. I don’t talk to a lot of people that I knew 10 years ago.... but the ones I do... we’re close as hell. There have been times we haven’t seen each other for months... sometimes years because life.. but we always come back together.
After high school to your early 20’s is a crucial time in your life. You can set yourself up OR you can set yourself back. If you want to relax and live life in your 30’s and beyond.. don’t waste time. If you want to play catch up later on in life... it’s your choice.
