There’s some truth to this; a majority of girls I know start off in STEM and then switch to a major in the humanities. It’s not that they aren’t smart or as intellectually capable- because they are. But girls aren’t raised to stomach their failures in the same way that men are- https://twitter.com/margaritaevna95/status/1284202217831047169
Men are *usually* not given any choice but to excel. They are raised w the expectation of success. Hence even when they fail, they have no choice but to bounce back. However, women are socialized to get things right on their first try. Perfection is what we’re taught. (2/n)
Girls aren’t taught to stomach their failures easily. Our success isn’t mandatory. Girls who aren’t socialized into this perfection mindset r usually the ones to succeed in their careers. But the other 90% end up feeling depressed, unworthy, incompetent for not producing results
Why do you wanna waste >$100k on an education in a major that won’t pay you any money? Is it just for the show of it? Don’t get me wrong because I feel like every woman should strive to educate herself. But idk why western societies pretty much force us into becoming pseudo-men.
