Okay, I promised to make a thread on this today, so here goes nothing. I'm not sure how long this is going to be, but I'll keep it relatively succinct for Twitter and write a much longer version for Tumblr.

If you, for whatever reason, cannot stand the opinions of someone else in the fandom? Congratulations, welcome to life. People are always going to disagree with you about something. This does not give you leeway to harass someone because you disagree - and accuse them of-
-harmful tropes because of their opinions of fictional characters.

-but at no time have I EVER thought it appropriate to harass someone who disagreed with me, or who said they couldn't understand why people like Immortal Malec.
If you think that sort of behavior is okay? Bluntly? You're, at best, misguided, and at worst? An asshole.

This kind of behavior is a GUARANTEED way to make creators like myself and others leave the fandom and never look back. I've seen it happen in other fandoms, and y'all need to take a look at yourselves and this behavior and understand? It is NOT okay. It never will be okay!
Normally I try to push relentless positivity in fandom spaces - but there are some things I cannot, and will not, ever allow to stand without speaking out against them. And bullying people, especially authors that you disagree with their "take" on, is one of those things!
I want the Malec fandom to be around for a very, very long time yet. I want there to be hundreds of creators like me, making content for all of us to consume.
There aren't going to be if some of you don't cut this kind of behavior out. You want to pick on someone next time?

Quit bullying people. Read what you want to read and ignore what you don't. Make fandom a better place, don't try to tear it apart.
