So, I’m working on a reaction story about the news that the Edmonton football team will reportedly announce Monday that it’s changing its name.

I spoke with @ITK_CanadaInuit President Natan Obed, whose 2015 Op-Ed in The Globe & Mail brought this issue into the national discourse
The interview will air in its entirety on Qulliq on Monday. And I’ll pull quotes for the web story, and TV & radio news items.

But there are a few quotes that I want to share in particular, in what was a great, wide-ranging interview.
On how the connotation of the name was different on the field, and in the business, than how it was used in Inuit communities (citing an interview with Pro Football Hall of Famer, and CFL Hall of Famer, Warren Moon:
On how he feels if, in fact, the news is true and the team is changing its name. And on repairing broken relationships, and why this was important.
And finally, on how this is the turning point in non-Inuit society to stop using the term altogether in discourse.
