Here I try listing down few books that helped shaping my perspectives, point of view, vision and identity as a whole. Would love further book recommendations from you people. Hope the list will be of some use to someone.
1) Essentials of Hinduism - #SwamiVivekananda could be a starting point for a transformation in your life. It really helped me to out things/ideas around Sanatana Dharma in perspective. PDF of the Complete Works of Swamiji is available for free on the internet - Google Karo
2) 'Range - How Generalists triumph in a Specialist World' by @DavidEpstein helped me to fight the insecurities surrounded around "Jack of All,Master of None". And the books does complete justice to the title. Also, let me clarify - it isn't a self help book.
3. Lutyens' Maverick - @PandaJay is an optimistic and objective take on Hard choices we as a Nation has to make if we were to reach to a stage where we can claim to be a #NewIndia
4. Land of Seven Rivers - @sanjeevsanyal was a revelation to me around how to approach history as a subject by standing on the ground . A brilliant book on #IndianHistory
5. Chanakya's Chant - @ashwinsanghi was an absolutely fantastic read. Drawing parallels between two eras and taking the plot forward with such intensity and gravitas is difficult . This is the book I gift to absolute beginners now 😊
6. India in the Age of Ideas is another brilliant read from @sanjeevsanyal .It is a compilation of his articles over the decade and he introduced the idea of Complex Adaptive Systems to me. Also the chapters around Urban Planning were exciting.
7) 70 Policies that shaped India - @gchikermane was the first book I read when I started developing my interested towards Public Policy. This is an objective and unbiased take on policies that made the Nation reached where she is today.
8) Bridgital Nation - Solving Technology's people problem by N Chandrasekaran of the @TataCompanies is relevant because it helps change the narrative from people working around the problems caused by tech to solving people problem using Tech. I'll say - Go for it
9) Animal Farm - #GeorgeOrwell is a master piece. A must read for everyone to challenge the illusions around social order, justice and revolution that has creeped in to our minds knowingly or unknowingly. Looking forward to read 1984 by the Author.
10) Nudge by #RichardThaler and @CassSunstein is deeply influential and at the same time a fundamental book on #BehavioralScience and #BehavioralEconomics . Must read for Policy Enthusiasts, Economic grads and a fascinating read for everyone else 😉
11) Why I stopped wearing my socks by @rodinhood was a book that I read by chance. It was a simple, engaging, refreshing and brilliant read where Alok narrates his entrepreneurial journey over the years. I wish I had read the book during my college days.
Chaos by James Gleick - The stories around the formation of Chaos as a concept is turning out to be a fantastic read. The non- Newtonian idea of looking at the behavior of a system as a whole was refreshing 😀
