Fun facts about 1989 by Taylor Swift (a thread):
There's a pen click before the lyrics "... And I'll write your name" in Blank Space.

A song that satirically mocks the way media portrays her.

By the way, some of the background noises are Taylor Swift and Shellback (producer) yelling.
The album is titled '1989' not only because Taylor is born on that year, but also because the album's beat and sound is reminiscent of/inspired by '80s music. (synthpop)
Reminiscent/inspired because she originally didn't know what she was going to call the album, but after recording a few tracks she came to the realization that she was creating '80s pop.
The vocal effects on 'Welcome To New York', the album's opener track, refer to the 'Lincoln Tunnel' Which connects New Jersey to New York.
It basically symbolizes moving to New York.
The album's 3rd track, 'Style', refers to her ex-boyfriend Harry STYLEs, who used to be in a boy group named One Direction. The bridge of the song "Take me home ..." allegedly refers to their 2nd studio album titled 'Take Me Home'.
The line "Two paper airplanes flying, flying, flying" from 'Out Of The Woods' refers to the necklace she and Harry used to wear while dating, which was briefly mentioned in the previous line "Ooh, your necklace hanging from my neck".
Although she was not wearing the exact same necklace in the 'Out Of The Woods' music video, she was seen holding it in the 'Style' music video.
In an interview, Taylor said the bridge of 'OOTW' is about a snowmobile accident she had with a partner, presumably Harry Styles, but she avoided the press by asking the hospital staff for privacy.

By the way, this scene from the music video spells out 'Out Of The Woods'.
Fans theorize that 'Wildest Dreams' is about her experience as an actress in the movie 'The Giver' where she allegedly falls in love with the actor, Alexander SkarsgÄrd. Because the music video takes place somewhere around/in South Afrika which is where the movie was shot.
Taylor had dark brown hair in the music video just like the role she played in the movie.
They also stayed in the same hotel (his hands are in my hair his clothes are in my room)
And Alexander is 6'4'' (193 cm) which makes him so tall (and handsome as hell).
I mean that's also what the music video is about; falling in love with an actor while acting.

- Taylor used her actual heartbeat in 'Wildest Dreams'.
By the way, before releading the song as a single she had the production slightly changed.
Fans think that the line " My ex-man brought his new girlfriend she's like "Oh, my God" " is about John Mayer and Katy Perry.
The high pitched "Stay!" in the album's 5th track, 'All You Had To Do Was Stay', is in my opinion almost like flashbacks of her shouting "STAY!!!" to the person the song is about.

By the way, if you didn't know her track 5's are always emotional/vulnerable.
How You Get The Girl is about her giving advice to a guy, which made people believe the song was towards Justin Bieber, who used to be in a roller-coaster relationship with Taylor's best friend Selena Gomez.
Taylor Swift said that You Are In Love is a commentary on the relationship between Jack Antonoff, the co-writer, and producer of the song, and Lena Dunham her friend, in which she explains/tells their story from her point of view.
The Lover music video was inspired by its bridge.
Her album '1989' and the 'Blank Space' music video were both leaked before their official releases.
'New Romantics' is a satirical song discussing how “new romantics” view love and life. It addresses the nonchalant and whimsical nature of the way young adults approach to love. Notably, Taylor doesn’t segregate herself from these young adults.
There’s a bit of a historical reference at play as well: the New Romantics were a group of young people in early ‘80s London who dressed crazily in response to the conservative, Thatcherite policies at the time. Which fits the album's theme perfectly.
Success:
The album was the second most successful album of the decade and won Album Of The Year at the Grammys. The album debuted at number 1 with more than 1.2M units sold in the US, staying 11 weeks at number 1, and more than a year in the top 10 (the album is still charting.)
The album is Taylor's most successful album. The funny thing is that the album has 13 tracks (excluding the bonus tracks obviously) and everyone should know by now that, that's Taylor's lucky number.
'Red' not winnig Album Of The Year at the Grammys influenced the making of '1989'.
"In 'Out of the Woods,' the main snare is a combo of white noise [Jack Antonoff] got from blowing out the EMI board, clapping his hands, and, no joke, dropping his gear bag. He mic-d that up on the floor. "
The unique music of "Clean" comes courtesy of a couple of Imogen Heap's unique instruments: a mbira (a thumb piano) and "then these things called boomwhackers, which are for the percussion," Swift explained.

By the way, her vocals for the song were recorded in just two takes.
She told co-writer Ryan Tedder that she wanted the verses for IKP to sound like a spy movie and she was pleased with the results. She said "I'm so happy that it sounds like the urgency that it sings about." Surprisingly, both Swift and Tedder contributed to the background vocals.
I know most swifties already knew most of these, but I though I'd make a thread of all the interesting facts I could think of, so that at least one of them could be of interest and new to you. Hope you learned something you didn't.

Luv and thank you for reading 💛

The End
Btw if you're wondering why I reposted it, it's because the original tweet was accidentally removed. 😡

This time I tried to include all the polaroids from 1989, removed some typos and added more facts. đŸ’«
