The Derby Project: The Rebuild. This thread has been put together using Data Analysis to identify potential transfer targets for Derby over the summer. Using @WhoScored and @SofaScoreINT data. If you enjoyed please leave a RT and suggestions of players! LongThread #dcfcfans #dcfc
During the thread. There will be things that are abbreviated or difficult to understand. Here is a little key for what it all means #dcfc #dcfcfans
Here is the main players in the current squad. From Goalkeepers through to the centre midfielders. Attackers to follow this tweet
As mentioned. Here are the attacking options at the club. Along with extra youth players who are promising talents
According to statistics. Here is Derbys best 11. It was a tough decision in the attacking centre role, meaning Sibley and Holmes are but down. To the left, a run down of how Philip Coco's Derby operates.
Derbys youth academy has been extremely successful this year, and is a massive part of how the club will operate in the future. #youngrams #dcfc
The next step for the club. This is an overall plan for the future and how Mel Morris sees the club being run. As well as this, and overview of the needs of the club.
First Target Area: The Keeper. Here is a run down and comparison between Derby's current stopper, Kelle Roos and Ben Hamer.
Possible Targets: UK based. Pears has had a very impressive season for a struggling Middlesbrough, still young and can develop into an excellent stopper. Joe Hart my be risk, however, if he gets his Mojo back he could well be a coup of a signing.
Possible Targets: Abroad. Warner Hahm has recently been realised from Dutch Club Heerenveen. Hes impressive stat wise, and will be a cheap afford able option. On the flip side, Bayindir worked with Coco at Fenerbache, but he wont be cheap
Possible Targets: Summary. A full rundown of the possible goalkeeper targets I have identified
Second Target:Matt Clarke. Matt Clarke has arguably been our best player this season, and replacing them him will be a very tough job.
Second Target: Matt Clarke. Two UK options. Adarabioyo is a youngster at Manchester City. 2 spells in the division at WBA and Blackburn. Eoghan O'Connell is playing at League 1 Rochdale. He has excellent stats, and maybe relatively cheap. Still 24. Both are right sides however
Second Target Area: Matt Clarke abroad. Sven Botman is a exciting dutch talent? All, playing at Ajax. He was on loan last season at Heerenveen and was a target of Norwich. Obispo is another exciting prospect, with similar stats. He may be slightly cheaper
Second Target:Matt Clarke. For me, the transfer that makes the most sense it Obispo. Compared with Clarke, he matches him well. Aerial duals are slightly lower, however Dutch football is alot more technical than the Championship.
Target Area Three: Wingers. Derby have struggled in wide areas this season, normally playing players out of position in these areas. Finding natural cover and/or starters is very important
Target Area Three: Lawrence and Waghorns stars and heatmaps from this season. Both have been very important for Derby this season, and are missed when not in the side
Target Area Three: Wingers. Jason Knight and Duane Holmes have been forced to play out wide at times, despite being more central players. Both have done well, but will be better through the middle.
Target Area Three: Wingers. Jordon Ibe has history at Derby, having been on loan under Steve McClaren. His career has gone stale in the EPL, and a move to Derby may get it back on Track. Curtis has had an excellent season at Portsmouth. He wont be cheap, but is a very good option
Target area three: Winger. Niclas Eliasson is a forgotten man at Bristol City, and can provide excellent quality out wide. To the left is a full breakdown of the 3 UK options
Target Area Three: Wingers (Abroad). Van de Water has been very impressive at Dutch side Hercalus. He is a similar player build wise to waghorn, and provide excellent cover. Junior has been out on loan this season, and could well be a decent loan option. Also at PSV.
Target Area three: Winger (abroad). Curro is a wildcard, playing for struggling spanish side Numancia. His stats are impressive for a struggling second division side, and could well be a surprise package. Summary of all three on the left
Target Area three: Wingers. For me, Curtis and van de Water will be the best 2 options. 1 players right, (SvdW) and one players left (Curtis). Both are more than capable of starting games, and could make excellent subs if needed from the bench.
Target Area Four: Chris Martin. Chris Martin's contract is over at the end of the season, and finding a replacement is important for how Cocu plays.
Target Area Four: Chris Martin (UK). Kieffer Moore is a very cheap option, as Wigan are in serious money issues. A Welsh international, he shows great stats as a target man. Bishop is more of a low key player. But has had a impressive season at Accrington.
Target Area four: Martin (Abroad) Pavlids is a player with a similar build to Martin, and has a impressive season at Willem II. He could fill Martin's boots, and at 21, be there for a few years. Jeds Odgaard is a wildcard, and provides a different dynamic to Martin
Target Area four: Chris Martin. If Martin does leave, Pavlids and Moore would he my targets. Summary at the bottom of the photo.
Rebalancing the Squad: With the incoming, means out goings. Players will have to make way to create room in the squad, and much needed funds to make the transfers happen
Rebalancing the squad: part 2. How the attacking areas will look after the summer transfers.
Reason to Sell: Jozefzoon. Summary of his stats and reasoning can be seen on the photo below.
Reason for Sale: Malone. Summary of his stats and reasoning can be seen on the photo below
Reason for Sale: Carson. Summary of his stats and reasoning can be seen on the photo below
Reason for Sale: Bennett. Summary of his stats and reasoning can be seen on the photo below
How My new look Derby could line up. Not making too many changes is important, however, with the mixture of new and old, this could lead The Rams to a Top 6 or maybe higher finish.
And that's a wrap! Thanks everyone for reading. It means alot. Please leave suggestions and thoughts below. If you want more of these, let me know! One last thing, In Cocu We Trust! @dcfcofficial #dcfc #dcfcfans
