Why Derrick Rose deserves mvp over lebron a thread
First off the mvp is a REGULAR SEASON AWARD NOT PLAYOFFS

The popular argument for lebron is stats so before I give my explanation let’s look at both players stats for the season

Lebron:
PPG:26.7
Assist.7
Rebounds:7.5
Steals:1.6
Blocks:0.6
FG%:51
Rose:
PPG:25
Assist:7.7
Rebounds:4.1
Steals:1
Blocks:0.6
FG%:44.1

So obviously lebron had the better stat line than rose but we have to remember to use context
In his mvp year Derrick Rose led his team to there first 60 win season since MJ retired. There record was identical to the 1998 bulls team that one the championship and of course gave them the 1 seed over the Miami Heat, the big 4 Boston Celtics before injuries, and the magic
With Howard. This is significant in the case for mvp because no one had the bulls to make much noise, but also rose wasn’t on the map to become an mvp candidate. 1 season earlier the bulls were an 8 seed with a 41-41 record and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round in 7
Games. There biggest offseason accusation(Carlos boozer) injured his hand before the season missing every game until December 1st of that season and only played 59 games in total. Joakim
Noah was also injured for periods of time as well. This caused a 38 year old Kurt Thomas to
become the starting big man who averaged 4.1 points and 6 rebounds FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON.
Derrick Rose led his team to a better record while being the primary ball handler and scorer on a team were 2 of the best players would be in and out of the lineup for most of the season with subpar replacements while lebron had the impossible tasks of playing with an elite Dwyan
e wade and a dynamic Chris Bosh

Moving onto 2017 when kd won finals mvp after an amazing performance, most people said his finals performance wasn’t so amazing because he played with great teammates and supporting cast which made it easier for him to get his shots and stats comp
ared to lebron who had a harder time with his roster. Those same things that applied to lebron in that finals literally are the same things that apply to Derrick Rose in 2011...
Now let’s compare rosters for each team during 2011
Keith bogans:4.1PPG and 1 of everything else
Ronnie brewer:6.2PPG(shot 22% from the 3 point line no spacing lol)
While he did have a good spot-up shooting option in kyle korver and Loul Deng who was the 2nd leading scorer on the
team the only person who shared ball handling duties with rose was the backup PG C.J Watson who averaged 13 minutes a game
Carlos Boozer:17.5 points 9 rebs, 51% from the field
Chris Bosh averaged 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds on 50% shooting while being confined as a spot of shooter and the third option on his team meaning he couldn’t do everything he wanted to do. Also wade averaged basically the same numbers as rose. You can’t diminish kd’s finals per
formance in 2017 then turn around and say lebron deserved mvp in 2011 when rose had the weaker supporting cast that means you would have to diminish lebrons 2011 regular season performance as well
Now let’s look at Rose impact throughout that season because it can’t be all about team situations. Derrick Rose lifted an offense that was ranked 27th in 2010 all the way up to 11th the very next year. A team that had very little to work with moved up 16 spots in rose’s mvp year
For context in the 2 seasons rose caught the injury bug the offense went to 23rd and 28th those 2 years. In 2011 Rose’s usage rating was 32% basically making him the offense. While lebron’s was almost equal

to his that season so was Wade’s
meaning someone else was making things happen on the floor when the ball wasn’t in lebrons hands. Compare that to rose’s 2nd best teammate Loul Deng who’s usage rating was 20%
Lets talk about how transcendent of a PG he was that season which people seem to forget when people make the argument against his mvp.
There has been 5 players in the modern era to post 2000 points and 600 assists in a season those 5 players are Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, James Harden Micheal Jordan and Lebron James.
Derrick rose carried his team to a better record than these 7 teams in 2011(all teams that had more talent than the bulls that season)
Celtics:56-26
Heat:58-24
Magic:52-30
Mavericks:57-25
Spurs:61-21
Lakers:57-25
Thunder:55-27
And finally here are players who believed Derrick Rose was mvp it the league that season

Jason Kidd
Tyson Chandler
Chris Bosh(Lebron’s teammate)
Juwan Howard(Lebron’s teammate)
Charles Barkley
Kevin Love
Steve Nash
Zach Randolph
AND LEBRON JAMES HIMSELF SAID ROSE WAS MVP
So in conclusion yes Derrick rose deserved mvp
