thread on why i think sokka is one of the most misunderstood characters. i’m so tired of people thinking that his only purpose in the show is comedic relief y’all got me fired up
since the first episode of the show we're shown how determined he is. he was the only warrior left in his village to protect them if the fire nation ever decided to come back and he spent everyday practicing and training for said day to come
sokka showed bravery since the beginning. in this scene you know he knew he had no chance against the fire nation by himself but yet he still did what he knew he had to do to protect his village, and he did not hesitate once
sokka knew he was not as strong as the rest of the gaang because he wasn't a bender, but knowing this only made him even stronger both mentally and physically. i see just as much character development with sokka as i do with zuko.
piando knew sokka was a water tribe member but still taught him because the art of the sword is for everyone and he saw the determination that sokka had in him. SOKKA LITERALLY MADE A FUCKING SWORD OUT OF A METEORITE EVERYONE SAY IT WITH ME! BIG BRAIN SOKKA!
sokka never hesitated to attack even when he knew he was not as strong as his opponent. MF LITERALLY TOOK OVER THE INVASION OF THE BLACK SUN BY HIMSELF AND UR GONNA CALL HIM NOTHING BUT COMEDIC RELIEF WHAT THE FUKKKK
WHEN THE AIRSHIPS SURROUNDED SOKKA AND TOPH HE DID WHATEVER HE HAD TO DO TO PROTECT HER BECAUSE HE KNEW SHE WAS VULNERABLE AND HE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO ACCEPT THEIR FATE WHEN HE THOUGHT THEY WERE TOAST BUT HE NEVER LET GO OF HER WAHHHWAHHWHAH
back to the beginning of the show, we are shown that sokka is pretty sexist. but the way he was able to realize he was wrong and apologize to the kyoshi warriors and learn how to appreciate their art of battle SO FAST was amazing and so redeeming. sokka is an amazing character
sokka was an amazing brother to katara. he cared for her so much, and always had her back no matter the circumstance. he was there always to protect and she always had his back too. she always encouraged him when he was feeling weaker than the rest, bc she knew what he had in him

ill probably add to this every once and awhile but i just wanted to say that sokka is a warrior, a lover, a fighter, clever, smart, analytical and brave. he is the best friend anybody could have. and finally yeah he is funny as FUCK!!!!!!
