Ok. Now that I’m done with job convos, here are top 5 things I’ve seen rampantly in tech interviews and were huge red flags for me. https://twitter.com/sanarao/status/1284149469576134656

This ALWAYS means homogeneous and masculine business practices and glass cliffs for women and people of colour (if they are in the senior levels of the company at all)

This always signifies that the company does not know how to value your worth and wants to maintain power in the dynamic - lacks mutual respect and humanity.

This usually happens when the company is slow moving, indecisive, and is optimizing for employee experience over candidate experience.

This reflects a hierarchical power structure between interview and interviewee. Interviews should be a space for both parties to engage and get to interview each other.

You have the right to refuse giving the first number, details of other offers or the offer itself. How someone reacts to you saying no says a lot about the internal culture of the company.
Above all the most important thing I’ve learnt from this process is saying no to the wrong opportunity that seems right conventionally opens you up to the right opportunity for you.
Listen to your gut, go with what gives you energy. You can always edit the path as you need.
