ATELIER LULUA APPRECIATION THREAD
I spent a lot of time writing it and I hope it reaches as many people as possible, especially now that the atelier series is becoming more and more popular.
Atelier Lulua is the 4th game of the Arland subseries (chronologically Rorona>Totori>Meruru>Lulua) but it's actually a very good starting point and it's standalone, just like any other atelier game.

It's impossible not to fall in love with the vibrant, colorful, happy, and unique world of Atelier Lulua.
There's a great amount of lovely places to explore: forests, mountains, deserts, dark and mysterious places, ruins of past civilizations, cities, castles and much more.
Atelier is a very "main character- centric" series.
And Lulua is a delightful character, hilarious but also determinated, thoughtful and a devoted friend.
One thing that impressed me about her was that she cares about everyone's feelings, including monsters.
Her design (by Mel Kishida) is brilliant, detailed, her color palette is aesthetically pleasing and it has many references to the past arland alchemists like her hairband's hearts colors, that represent previous arland alchemists: Pink (Rorona), blue (Totori) and yellow (Meruru).
The cast of Atelier Lulua is by far one of the most fun and enjoyable, each character has its own well-articulated storyline, you learn to love each of them for their eccentricity and over the top personality, but also for their vulnerabilities and contradictions .
Atelier Lulua's story is captivating and deals with very important themes such as the concept of family, blood relathionship and friendship.
It will give you moments of joy and laughter, but also twists, difficult choices and dramatic moments.
The gameplay, as Junzo Hosoi mentioned in a recent interview, represents the achievement of perfection of those mechanics that have been improved throughout previous games.
Atelier Lulua has the best crafting system in the series and one of the best battle systems as well.
The crafting system is very deep and full of possibilities, it combines the best aspect of the arland and mysterious games.
It may seem complex at first but once you got used to it, it's intuitive and funny.
The objects you create will also play a key role on the battlefield.
The game has a turn-based battle system, very fast and stratetic, with many chained attacks between various characters and bonuses based on the formation of the party.
It also has an interrupt system, which is a very positive gimmick as it gives the player the possibility, once the special bar is loaded, to interrupt the turns of the battle and use the items created with alchemy.
Atelier lulua is a perfect atelier game as it is both a nostalgic love letter to longtime fans and an exciting new beginning where it is nice to discover places and characters for the first time if you haven't played previous chapters.
