Thankfully there was significant backlash, mostly co-ordinated by Ted Brown of the Gay Liberation Front, and a year later Justin was allowed to tell his own story. But there is much to be said about how Black British media was central to degrading Black British queer people

Funny enough I’ve actually been trying to hunt down Tony Sewell’s column + The Voice Newspaper’s coverage of Black homosexuals esp Justin Fashanu for a project so I’d be very interested to know if anyone knows where these would be archived either physically or digitally
