Just seen someone ask Paul Heaton if he could put his hand in his pocket and cover the rent at deaf institute / gorilla to save em
For one thing, that’s an absurd ask, for another I think people forget that these venues are owned by a big company and this is a commercial decision based on keeping someone’s pocket lined. It’s not some twee little indie business that exists for the community
The company owns alberts schloss - don’t see that closing down, do you?
The guy who runs it founded Revolution bars, he’s not some space cadet wearing Birkenstocks and championing local creativity. He’s a rich fella.
I’m sure he could put his hand in his considerable pocket and keep them open but he’s chosen not to.
They also own Rudy’s if you’re not quite convinced that this is an extremely large and powerful company that can probably afford to keep a couple of venues open a while longer
And another thing - they opened this place a couple of weeks ago. Do the blue things in the background look familiar? Wonder where they could have come from.
All am saying is - don’t be putting your hand in your pocket to try and help a company who have money. I’m sure we’ll figure out another way to make these places thrive again.
