I trained in the 80s at Nottingham School of Nursing. We had a wide range of clinical placements. I enjoyed my training & the variety it offered. I wanted to be a community nurse, then as a 3rd year student a specialty placement in intensive care change my mind #choosenursing
What I liked about both community&ICU nursing was the opportunites for 1:1 care & holistic support to patient, family and carers. In the 80s it was much harder to secure a job in community, whereas today newly qualified nurses are welcomed #choosenursing #NurseBloggers2020
As described by @FordeJohnston yesterday, jobs for nurses in the 80s were scare, hard to believe these days! The wealth of opportunities and roles in nursing today is amazing #choosenursing #NurseBloggers2020 What are your career interests in nursing ?
When I first qualified I worked as a Staff Nurse on the Stroke Unit at Nottingham General Hospital . This gave me great experience as newly qualified managing a ward. On qualifying as a staff nurse I received a buckle and watch from my family! #choosenursing #NurseBloggers2020
