Real Madrid Femenino's new signings, their play-styles and what they will bring to the squad

1. Marta Cardona (25, Winger)

•A RW primarily, Cardona is capable of playing on either flanks.
•She is quick & her 1v1 ability on the wings is good. She uses her pace to generate separation between herself & marker, to put the ball in for her teammates.
•She has decent vision

•Her quick acceleration allows her to beat the opponent when played into space or while changing the direction of her run.
•Her pace is a great asset in counter-pressing the opposition, she is smart presser of the ball.
•She can put in good crosses into the box.

•She usually pins back the FB & looks to stretch the field in attack but also attacks the box when need be.
•At 5ft 5 she isn’t great in the air & doesn’t contest a lot of aerial duels, losing out on them generally.
•She has got a good shot on her

2. Olga Carmona (20, LW/LWB)

•She can play anywhere on the left side but LW/LWB is her most favorable position.
•Stays wide on the left & stretches the field.
•Brilliant crossing ability. Can play inch perfect crosses.
•Has good vision to play balls behind the defence

•She is amazingly quick. Her pace makes it difficult to catch her in a foot race. This helps her draw fouls from opposition teams.
•Her pace also helps her when playing as a LB. She is able to intercept plays & recover quickly from dangerous positions using her speed.

•Her ability in defensive duels is what makes her such an asset for a team. She is smart in defensive 1v1, often trying to shield the ball and earn a foul.
•Her reading of the game in defensive situation is great as well.
•She isn’t very tall & hence loses out on aerial duels.

•Can take on players in 1v1. Good close control on the ball & good dribbling skills.
•Her passing is great as well. She is capable of spraying the ball long while finding her intended target.
•Good shooting ability as well.

3. Teresa Abelleira (20, CM)

-She can play multiple roles in midfield but predominantly features as a LCM in mid 3. She can play in the pivot or in the AM role with ease.
-Her ability on the ball & close control is impeccable (stemming from the fact that she played Futsal)

-A filthy dribbler on the ball, she can glide her way out of an incoming press.
-During buildup she likes to drop deep to collect the ball & distribute it. Her distribution of the ball is amazing
-Her 1v1 ability is crazy. Beware of the nutmegs

-She is constantly looking to play the deadly line breaking ball behind the defence & succeeds more often than not. Her vision to play such passes is amazing.
-She has got the end product in her as highlighted by her 2G & 6A this season (3rd highest in the league).

-She has got set pieces in her repertoire as well.
-Not the best in the air but she has the physical attributes to challenge her opponents in a defensive duel and shield the ball from incoming challenges.
-Her defensive awareness is good too.

-She doesn’t shy from taking a shot when given time on the ball near the 18 yard box and she can shoot pretty well. She lurks just beyond the 18 waiting for the space to open up (Scored in this way against Sevilla and Barcelona as well)

4. Maite Oroz (22, CM/AM)

•Maite can function as a part of double pivot (like this season for Athletic Club) or as a traditional #10 in a 4-2-3-1 or as part of a midfield 3, adding to her versatility. She excels in the final third of the pitch.
•Creative powerhouse

•Technically gifted midfielder. Silky on the ball.
•Excellent first touch and control to escape the incoming challenge/pressure.
•Excellent dribbler, gets out of tight spaces with ease making her extremely press resistant.

Beware of the nutmegs...

•Draws foul easily with her quick footed nature
•Often goes for the high risk-high reward passes & looks to consistently break opposition lines. She can see passes very few can.
•Her movements in the final 1/3 of the pitch are excellent

•Intelligent player off the ball. Always looks to create space & draw players towards her in an attempt to open goal scoring opportunities.
•Maite is constantly scanning her surrounding, keeping track of the little pockets of space opening up.

•She can cycle possession & distribute the ball really well during the buildup phase.
•She makes the delayed runs into the box making herself an option.
•She has set-pieces and long range shots in her repertoire as well.

5. Ivana Andrés (26, CB)

•She usually plays as a LCB in a back 4 system or features as the middle CB in the back 3.
•Great awareness & cover in defensive phase of the game.
•Her reading of the game is good, helping her intercept plays and make tackles.
•Solid defender

•She is a bit aggressive in getting off her line & not allowing the receiver time on the ball. This also allows her to win loose balls.
•She likes to makes hard challenges at times which might result in a foul or a card
•Good in ball progression via passing

•She can play the long ball out the back & has good passing range
•Her 1v1 defending skills are amazing, she is quick in closing down her opponents
•She is decent in the air, winning her aerial duels more often even though she isn’t the tallest.
•High press can be challenging

6. Kenti Robles (29, RB)

•A dynamic RB who loves to join the attack
•She has pace to beat & that helps her in closing down the opponent, winning the loose ball in dangerous areas & counter-pressing situations.
•Great at crossing the ball & stretching the field

•Always ready to make supporting runs. She can provide the underlapping & overlapping runs to cause problems to the opp. defence.
•Playing a quick little 1-2 & making the third man run to get in space behind the defence to cross the ball in are a big part of her game

•Apart from crossing, her ability to play the long balls is decent as well. She can spot a run behind the defence to play the ball over the top.
•Her 1v1 defensive ability is decent too
•She can shoot well from range (this goal is still quite fresh)

7. Marta Corredera (28, RB/RWB/LB)

•While primarily a RB, Corredera is capable of playing on both flanks without almost no loss of quality, which makes her an asset for the team.
•She can even be deployed as a winger having started her career as one.

•Her long range passing ability is amazing, making her capable of starting an attack with a ball over the top.
•She is skilled in 1v1 situations to get past the opponents with ease. She isn’t the quickest but has enough pace to get past her opponents
•Intelligent off-the ball.

•Her shooting ability is great, she can really test the keeper from range.
•She is good in 1v1 defensive duels & has good game reading ability
•Her workrate is one of her underrated qualities, she has great workrate on the field.
•Experience plenty.

8. María Isabel "Misa" Rodríguez (20, GK)

•Misa's best trait is her abilities on the ball. She is amazing with her distribution.
•Very calm under pressure from opposition forwards & can be a part of the buildup
•At 5ft 8 inches, Misa can reach shots far away from her body.

•Her positioning & reflexes makes it easier for her to save shots.
•In 1v1 situations, her movements & coordination makes her a frustrating figure to come up against.
•Another striking trait of her is how good she is at organizing & communicating with her backline.
