Yesterday, @GovMikeDeWine signed legislation into law that invests $555 million in Ohio schools, communities and infrastructure. Senate Bill 4 also included two important amendments that will further assist Ohio’s coronavirus response.
The first amendment eliminates competitive bidding requirements for counties, townships, and municipalities for personal protective equipment. This gives our local governments the freedom and flexibility to quickly purchase PPE as needed.
The second amendment allows cities and townships to use up to 25% of their unencumbered and unobligated TIF funds to pay for first responders and road maintenance employees. By allowing local governments to use these funds, we can keep these important personnel on the job.
It’s the state’s obligation to serve as a good partner to our local communities. Senate Bill 4, along with these two amendments, display our commitment to working together with our local governments so Ohio can effectively combat the coronavirus pandemic.
