This is the new Seylynn Park in #northvan at 930pm. Despite how terrible some on Council think it is compared to the grass field it used to be, I see 2 couples walking around the circular path for exercise, 2 youth headed to the skatepark, and 4 enjoying the field with their dogs

This is an amazing improvement to the neighbourhood. Maybe there were, but I’m not used to seeing a dozen people out enjoying this public space at this time at night. Bring on the next phase of these park improvements! #northvan

Some of the new homes in the neighbourhood, one just starting to be occupied and one nearing completion. I voted in favour of both of these. Will have to send the residents a letter to let them know they are welcome, despite the rhetoric against multi-family homes.

This weekend at #SeylynnPark in #northvan had folks sunbathing, playing frisbee, testing a new ebike, BBQing, enjoying light exercise & yoga.

Also chatted with Jason and Luke riding BMX in the #SeylynnBowl, one of Canada’s oldest skate parks. – bei Seylynn Park

A Tuesday evening at #SeylynnPark in #northvan. ~ 3 dozen people enjoying the space in different ways. A man alone with headphones in. A woman reading a book with her 2 dogs. 3 skaters filming tricks on an improvised ramp. 4 people throwing a frisbee, while 2 toddlers watch.

A larger physically distanced group with lawn chairs. A couple with a blanket on the grass. An older couple walking the new circular path.

This initial investment in the neighbourhood has been described by some on Council as an unnecessary upgrade that’s made the park worse.

Future investment in the area has been questioned. I expect sometime soon Council will again be asked whether or not to proceed.

I’ll keep documenting how great this park is & how important and necessary future investments are for those living in this growing neighbourhood.
