See embedded why @Corey_Barnes believes Guardians should be the pick. He mentions Spiders as the likely odds-on favorite and, sadly, he is correct.

Let's do a thread here to explain why Spiders is a bad choice. https://twitter.com/mgbode_WFNY/status/1282672854128091136
We are supposedly moving away from a name to be more inclusive with society on the whole. Choosing Spiders as the name/logo is not inclusive. Most of society on spiders: dislikes, feels "are icky", and some downright fear.

Open slate of names/logos... why do that?
Spiders tie to the city is the old NL team... of course it was disbanded after the owner stripped all the good players to send to the StL Cardinals but only after the worst season in professional baseball history.

Ancient times... I'm sure the nat'l media will NEVER bring it up.
Speaking of the nat'l media showing Montages of Misery for Cleveland:

I'm sure that the Spiders trading the actual Cy Young and the current baseball club having traded Cy Young Award winners (CC, Lee, Kluber) won't constantly be mentioned...
Outside inclusivity & historical reasoning, there is another issue:

Spider-Man is among the most popular Marvel comics, TV shows, & movies. Sony & Marvel/Disney have spent the last few decades creating & filing for copyright trademarks on logos/phrases.

There will be lawsuits.
Another minor item will be the tired jokes about the Dolans not needing to do much to add cobwebs to the ballpark because they are too cheap to hire a cleaning crew, etc.
There are just so many better names/logos than Spiders.

Generic? Owls, Cranes, Buzzards

Historical? Guardians (see @Corey_Barnes article)

Player honor? Doberman (Doby's) w/ The Dog Park nickname for Progressive Field.

Just, no spiders. Please.
