Obviously stolen, but
1 like = 1 controversial #StarWars opinion.

Rian Johnson is pound for pound the best director weâve had work on #StarWars (up to this point). (And potentially the best writer.)
Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is better than KOTOR I.
Attack of the Clones is absolutely better than The Phantom Menace and you all just got hung up on the wrong things.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is undeniably an incredible character, but he is NOT the âepitome of a Jedi Knightâ like so many people say he is. (And I say that with love
)

Solo is the better of the two stand-alone â #StarWars Storyâ films.
TFA, while still being a film I love very much, is the weakest of the sequel trilogy.
The #StarWars sequel trilogy is THE BEST acted material in all of Star Wars, and itâs not close. Even the original trilogy, which has GREAT acting, canât touch it. The performances in the sequels are top notch work from EVERYONE.
You all slept on #StarWarsResistance so hard and it makes me sad. Sure, it was comical and light and slapsticky, but it was SUPPOSED TO BE. Intent & audience aim is important. And it actually had TONS of heart toward the end of its first season, and throughout season 2.
THIS is the saddest Order 66 death. Theyâre all sad, but this right here...this is it for me.

The worst management decision ever made in #StarWars was Yoda holding Mace Windu & Ki-Adi-Mundiâs opinions in higher esteem than this manâs

The âplanâ for the sequel trilogy is way less important than actually, ya know, breaking down what we got. This fandom is OBSESSED with âplans.â Plans, plans, plans. Relax. You know who made A TON of shit up? The car-obsessed socially awkward guy from Modesto.
It is a goddamn shame that George Lucas retired when he did because #TheMandalorian is THE perfect place for him. More so than ANY film set heâs ever been on. The most George *project.* (outside of many Clone Wars).
The Gungans deserve their own Ewok renaissance. Itâs time. Itâs been over 20 years now. We should be using them way more. They need a handful of great new characters.
A lot of you were WAAAAY too hard on the Martez sisters arc in #TheCloneWars. And I genuinely think itâs because many people just didnât get it. Itâs literally pure âLucas & Dave pointing out the flaws in the Jediâ mixed with the fun of something like Solo.
Anyone who pushes for an R-rated #StarWars film or series is...
*clears throat*
...wroooooooong! We donât need thiiiiiis. Itâs for family audienceeeees yeeeeah
*clears throat*

The Rise of Skywalker is a gorgeous film and the âitâs SO BLUE uggghâ discourse undercuts a lot of its wonderful visuals. It has some of the best, most lovely on screen moments in the saga.
Itâs honestly fine that we didnât see these three together in the sequels. Their story was told. I can always watch those. They were the Obi-Wans of these films. We still had GREAT scenes w/ Leia & both men individually. Would it have been nice? *Absolutely.* But not NECESSARY.
The leaked DOTF script would not have been âbetterâ than TROS (at least at THAT stage w/ that particular draft). It misunderstands the Force & some VERY big themes. I think many were largely charmed by some LOVELY concept art (a lot of it IS great), but concept art isnât a movie.
The Special Editions are good, & Iâd even say theyâre improvements. Some of the changes are DELIGHTFUL. Itâs just that some people *need* to have the negative take. Itâs tired. âGive us the theatrical cuts!â discourse needs to end. I donât care AT ALL about the Greedo scene.
The character of Han has ENTIRELY been misunderstood as âbadassâ or âsuper coolâ for over 40 years. It needs to stop. He is TRYING to play it cool. He WANTS to be a badass. But heâs just George telling 12 year olds to cut out the tough act & choose friendship. And THAT is cool.
Any take thatâs built on any ârulesâ for the Force is already wrong. Or at least *leaning toward* wrong. And thatâs not to say my take or any take is RIGHT. Itâs to say that this is magic. Fantasy, NOT sci-fi. The characters & in-world lore mechanics are fallible for a reason.
This is an amazing scene in #StarWars, a wonderful moment for #LeiaOrgana, & a beautiful, unintentional tribute to Carrie. The hatred for this scene is so...
*deep sigh*
...just so dumb.
*deep sigh*
...just so dumb.
STAR WARS REBELS is the pinnacle of #StarWars in the post-George Lucas era. You can count all of it together, and Rebels comes out on top for me.
R2 & Threepio will ALWAYS be the most important droids, but theyâve been eclipsed by better overall characters. BB-8, Chopper, K2, L3, BD-1. Plenty have come along that I think are more rich. But to paraphrase Yoda, they are what these new droids grow beyond. Said with love

âDo or do notâ is the most misunderstood quote in all of #StarWars, BECAUSE of the decades of additional context we have now. It simply cannot be used as originally intended anymore. There absolutely is A LOT of importance to trying, to staying strong, and to getting back up.
Not sure how controversial this is, but General Grievous is the worst #StarWars character. I donât think Iâve ever enjoyed having him on screen (outside of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars).
The whole never-ending read that Empire is some super serious, badass, âdarkâ film is one of the worst takes in all of #StarWars fandom. How did we get to that? Itâs similar to the misreading of Han. Itâs very funny, itâs very fantasy, itâs very romantic & unabashedly sensitive.
The Child is great for two extra reasons below the surface:
1. Angry troll âfansâ donât realize that they love him because heâs subconsciously reaching the joy they CHOSE to abandon.
2. He & his immense power make all of the âReyâs a Mary Sueâ people look so deliciously stupid.
1. Angry troll âfansâ donât realize that they love him because heâs subconsciously reaching the joy they CHOSE to abandon.
2. He & his immense power make all of the âReyâs a Mary Sueâ people look so deliciously stupid.
Rey Skywalkerâs ending on Tatooine made perfect sense. The âno reason to be thereâ & âitâs because WE know the locationâ discourse is willfully ignorant of her relationships with the characters that changed her life. I mean the *matriarch of the family she found* is buried there!
Nobody can EVER dish out a complaint about a character being âtoo goodâ at anything, not having the âright training,â or any of those bad faith Rey criticisms when this Anakin sequence exists. A 9-year-old hung with the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps. I mean, câmon.
I think #StarWars could use way more field battles. Thereâs a criminally low amount of them on screen as it is. We can take the space battles frequency down a notch. Of course theyâre always going to have their place, but I want more people running at other people.
I would GLADLY take a Phasma show or game or whatever before I take any Boba Fett material. She IS the Boba Fett of the sequels, without question, but I find her to be way more compelling.
The argument of âwe didnât need thisâ about new #StarWars stories, films, shows, etc. is always the worst take. How are you going to start from that place? We donât NEED any of these. We didnât even NEED Empire Strikes Back. A New Hope tells a complete story. Itâs LAZY criticism.
Finnâs arc in the sequels is still wonderful, even though it didnât lead to a full trooper rebellion. Thatâs a great idea, but being married to that idea doesnât mean we invalidate what was on screen. Especially not w/ the culmination in TROS where heâs THE GLUE for our heroes

Hayden ghost is a great change.
And itâs only been made *better* by the expanded new canon. Claudia Grayâs description of Qui-Gonâs ghost form coming together. The Crait Force projection looking how Luke WANTS it to look. Hayden being there tracks & George was right to do it.

Bossk is the only classic ESB bounty hunter thatâs ever legitimately interested me. After him Iâd say probably Zuckuss? Maybe? I find the group to be largely kinda âmeh.â Especially Dengar. But Bossk is cool

I think #Ahsokaâs blue blades were a REALLY GOOD change. I donât care at all that it contradicts a canon novel. They can fix it in new printings. And I say this as someone who prefers green sabers! But blue is just immensely important for her in that arc. Beautifully poignant.
A lot of #StarWars fans who claim to hate âDisney SWâ & want ânewâ are also folks who LOVE to use #TheMandalorian to put down other work. But, it is JUST as much a *remix* as it IS new. Therefore, it exposes a lot of hypocrisy. We all want COMFORT. Some stuff you CANâT abandon.
This moment in ROGUE ONE is funny to me. I actually really like it.
I like Vaderâs dad joke. Though I completely understand WHY it might not work for many on a comedy theory level. (Shoutout to Joseph Scrimshaw who explained it to me once in a REALLY informative way.)

The âTFA is a rehash of New Hopeâ take is bad. It just is. Itâs SO reductive. Yes, broad strokes are there. Yes, itâs meant to bring it to that feel. But the differences are PLENTIFUL. New archetypes/personalities, hero & villain dynamics, mentor template, overall scenes, etc.
The âhowâ of Sheevâs return is WAY less important than the dark side themes he represents, his connection with the heroes, etc. The âWHYâ of it, *in universe.* But I know we gotta get clicks & obsess over things while conflating feelings on the *production* with *story* so...

DJ is a GREAT character. Great look, vibe, & appropriately weird performance. He was important for the story: It was time that we saw a scoundrel in the main arc that *didnât* have a heart of gold. He MEANT what he said. Rian addressed apathy & regular, non-dark side selfishness.
Looks like Iâm coming back to this thread:
Rey Nobody & Rey Palpatine work together in ways that I donât think people want to give it all credit for.
To me, sheâs still the sum of her experiences. Her ethos IS ALWAYS âthe nobody.â Her blood revelation is a final hurdle.
Rey Nobody & Rey Palpatine work together in ways that I donât think people want to give it all credit for.

Sabine Wren should be the ruler of Mandalore. Not Bo-Katan. Not Din Djarin. Sabine. Mandalore needs her sense of self. It needs the fusion of fighting spirit AND artistic spirit that she got from her mom & dad, respectively. It needs the woman who *gave the Darksaber away.*
I love Cassian, I really do, but Iâd rather have a Chirrut show. If I got to do anything with Rogue One material, it would be a Chirrut story. Best character in the film.
The pod race sequence is the sagaâs ultimate bathroom break scene for me. I can skip it every time and feel nothing.
âChapter 13: The Jediâ is the best episode of The Mandalorian.
This man deserves a lot more credit than he gets. Creators arenât perfect, and they canât please everyone. But his contributions to this franchise were (and are) immense.
I REALLY hope that Rogue Squadron isnât set in the original trilogy era. Let it be sequels or post-sequels. It could obviously be interesting no matter what, but Squadrons JUST scratched that Rebellion/Endor-era pilot itch.
The Sith Troopers are the best stormtrooper variant. Theyâre so great.
One of my few issues with Jedi: Fallen Order is that its most interesting character doesnât join in until way too late in the story.
Alden Ehrenreichâs Han is perfect. Itâs exactly what I feel young Han would be given the character Harrison established.
I think that the Clone characters that hit for me REALLY hit. Rex, Wolffe, 99, & The Bad Batch come to mind. BUT, a lot of the supporting clones donât really do much for me. (Though I do see why a lot of them are loved.)
Ackbarâs death in TLJ was fine. People definitely overreacted to it, in my opinion. Theyâre at war. He fell in battle. We the fans made him a legend, but on screen heâs mostly background leadership. It was fair game.
They should absolutely do Special Editions of the prequels.
I think that SW fans who want to *commentate on Star Wars* should do more to understand *how the industry works.* The behind-the-scenes realities, the way the actual business happens for whatever reasons, etc. It isnât always as cut and dry as âLFL does or doesnât do x or y.â
Thrawn works better in Rebels than he has in any of his books.
Poe having run with criminals before his military service does not just reduce him to âHan lite.â Theyâre very different characters. Also, itâs not a retcon. Thatâs not what a retcon is. Military personnel have lives before their service.
Gideon is the best Imperial character.
Fans of modern Star Wars hating on creators like Favreau, JJ, etc. for going back to the original trilogy are just as bad as any other haters (*obviously* excluding legitimately hateful & problematic people who bully & harass). Why shouldnât they go back to the stuff they love?
In honor of me acquiring this Black Series figure today (swoon): Endor Leia is the best look in the original trilogy. For any character. It is perfect. Poncho perfection. Hair perfection. Itâs the best of the best.

The best Darth Vader material is in comic books, and itâs not even close. The comics have fulfilled his legend & his tragedy time and time again.
Roseâs role in TROS being reduced down to âglorified backgroundâ status was absolutely wrong. A major, glaring problem for MANY reasons. But I donât think that means people should put down Jannah & Zorii (which Iâve seen). It could have been longer & featured ALL THREE characters
Hera Syndulla is the best pilot in Star Wars. I welcome your rebuttals but I shanât be abandoning Spectre-2.
Iâm sorry to say this, but the X-wing is the boring, vanilla brother of the classic rebel ships. Give me a B, an A, a Y, or a U all day.
I think Lucasfilm should roll the dice on a mostly all-creature story. Some of them have the ability to speak Basic so thatâs your eyes in character. Do loooong silences like WALL-E. Just go for it, Lion King style. Hell, Disney should have them collaborate with Pixar.
Look, I love Qui-Gon. I do. Heâs the best. But his lightsaber hilt is pretty lame. I always thought it was too simple and...corporate(?) for a guy his style. To me, he should have had some wooden components, or some ancient text, or something.
The costume design across the whole sequel trilogy is fantastic, but I think each member of the main trio has their best look in TROS. 3 for 3.
There are *VERY few* things that âdonât feel like Star Warsâ to me. I have a very wide range of what I accept in this world. Different takes, comedy styles, tones, etc. But Toro Calican is one of my things. Everything about him is too real world to me.
I honestly, truly never want to be done with the Skywalker saga. Iâm sorry. I get it. I want new stuff too. Iâm thrilled for a lot of the new stuff thatâs coming. But I would throw down my wallet for Episodes X, XI, & XII *tomorrow.* TOMORROW, I say.
The Galaxy of Adventures 5-inch line has some of the BEST figures in the modern era, and I am so, SO salty about the lack of excitement for them. I think I read that weâre getting Din Djarin? I hope that one does gangbusters. I need more of you to buy them.
I love Revan, but I really think he might honestly be better left in Legends. I just canât imagine a single way of giving him the Thrawn canonization treatment that would satisfy fans. Revan is unique because he was born in an interactive, choice-based piece. Thatâs VERY tricky.
I would love for Starkiller/Galen Marek to be brought into canon. The Inquisitorius kinda took his spot (and Dave almost made him one of them), but Iâm sure we could find another place for him. Maybe heâs this other Snoke apprentice thatâs been hinted at in some extra material?
Itâll always bother me on some level that Palpatine took out THREE MASTERS as quickly as he did. I know that we needed to get to the one on one battle, but...câmon. A bit more struggle would have been effective, I think.
Orbaks are the best mounts in Star Wars (yes, I like them more than tauntauns). I fell in love with them.
I like BB (and CB) units more than I like R-units. Thereâs just something about them that I love. My favorite astromechs for sure.
Mullet Obi-Wan is the best Obi-Wan.
I really donât care at all that new desert planets & jungle/forest planets keep getting introduced. It doesnât bother me at all.
(But I will say that having both in TROS was a tiny bit distracting. One of the environments could have been a bit more alien.)

(But I will say that having both in TROS was a tiny bit distracting. One of the environments could have been a bit more alien.)
If you like the River Phoenix prologue of The Last Crusade, then you really shouldnât complain that Solo is just a âgreatest hits.â They are spiritually the same. (Iâm not knocking Last Crusade, by the way. I LOVE both.)
This scene is the most beautifully directed one George Lucas has ever done. It may have been against his normal instincts, but he really connected with the acting here.
Green is the best lightsaber color. The GOAT. The undisputed champ. (I accept your boos, blue fans.)
IG-11 is the only interesting IG droid. I respect the love for IG-88 but the mystique around him has always confused me. Iâm so glad they made an original character for Mando S1.
The Darksaber should be destroyed. Not saying it should happen anytime soon. But it needs to happen for the good of the Mandalorians.
Wedge Antilles is overrated.
Every single thing about Han in The Force Awakens is amplified and made better because of Han in Solo. 100%. The connective tissue is right there when old Han says he âused to beâ Han Solo. A name thrust upon him that he claimed and molded into the guy he wanted to be.
Lin-Manuel Mirandaâs background character from TROS (who I affectionately call Alâix Hâam) should appear in a full capacity one day. Maybe in Rogue Squadron!
I donât ever want to be done with Jedi stories. We can do a thousand new things, but Iâll always want a Jedi story to be happening. Their flaws donât mean they should be abandoned as a cornerstone.
Ashley Eckstein is incredible, and weâre forever in her debt, but that doesnât mean I think she should have played live-action Ahsoka. I honestly donât. Not everyone is going to be that perfect transfer like Katee Sackhoff, and thatâs okay.
Rosario Dawsonâs Ahsoka was played exactly how I think Ahsoka at that point in her life would be. At that age, with that trauma, with that sense of duty, with that understanding of life. It worked for me as a performance, and I didnât see the âdifferent characterâ stuff at all.
There should be a Star Wars musical. And I donât mean an adaptation (though that would be fun). I mean get some top notch talent & tell a canon story in the musical format. Itâs a fable. âA long time ago.â Maybe one story is told by a bard? (Enjoy images of these talented guys.)
Not liking Return of the Jedi is the worst possible Star Wars movie take send tweeeeet. Itâs a goddamn treasure of a film.
I believe Iâve said this elsewhere before, but Iâll say it again: I love me some thin lightsaber blades.
Iâve never liked the original Anakin design in TCW. Iâm so glad it changed later on, and then was perfected for the final season.
Forces of Destiny was absolute gold and it was criminally slept on.
Star Wars Resistance had absolutely gorgeous animation and I hope a future series uses the style & techniques. Iâd even love to see a Rebels successor look like this.
The Canto Bight sequence is good.
Iâm glad Luke mopped up the Dark Troopers because Iâm not really into them. Iâm good if thereâs no more.
Rey has the best introduction sequence in all of Star Wars.
I find New Hope and Revenge of the Sith to be the least rewatchable films of the franchise. With ANH, I love it to death but I find myself wanting to get to Empire & Jedi. And with ROTS, itâs almost the inverse where I canât really do it without TPM & AOTC right before.
All of the Poe comedy at the beginning of TLJ is great. It works for me 100%.
Bespin Luke is the lamest Luke costume, in my opinion. Itâs just a weak look to me. Especially when weâve got absolute bangers like Yavin Ceremony & Jedi black.
There should be an Ewok Jedi in canon. If Yodaâs species can do it, and if Lanniks can do it, then so can an Ewok. (I mean Peekpa learned to be a GOAT level slicer!)
I legitimately hope that Taikaâs Star Wars film is the smallest one ever done. Iâm talking like âone crazy night on Coruscantâ or âthe Whills just sitting back and talking.â And I hope itâs almost a straight up comedy.
I didnât find the Eno Cordova & the Zeffo storyline to be all that interesting (even though I loved the rest of the J:FO story).
Yodaâs prequel leadership is even more questionable once youâve consumed High Republic material. Because now you have a real concept of how great things were. And you consider that it was Yodaâs Order that lost its way & youâre like âDamn, man. You were there when it was golden!â
Ben bringing Rey back to life was a beautiful moment that worked for me on so many levels. As a child of the prequels, who watched one of my key childhood heroes angrily proclaim that he would stop people from dying...this landed. This was George poetry.
I just got this bad boy the other day, and so Iâm here to tell you that Momaw Nadon is the best of the original cantina patrons and itâs not even close. Not.
Even.
Close.

Raddus is better than Ackbar. Ackbar fans, please file your complaints here.
Chopper is the best droid in modern Star Wars, and possibly ALL Star Wars.
Dual wielding lightsabers is cooler than having a saber staff.
Bringing back Kyloâs helmet for TROS was a good decision. It helps emphasize how heâs trying to double & triple down.
I wish people would call him Grogu and not Baby Yoda. Iâm not going to get mad about it...but, like...itâs his name. His *adorable* name.
Let this be an indicator of where I think Bo-Katan is headed. Her ultimate fate. And knowing how much Filoni loves LOTR...Iâm just saying.

I honestly didnât have an issue with Benioff & Weiss doing Star Wars. They were never set to direct, & I think they could have shepherded something interesting *if they assembled the right team.* I reiterate: With the right team. (They made all of the good GOT too, I remind you.)
Old Man Rex is the best Rex. Heâs way more effective to me in that role & context.
No disrespect to any fan filmmakers or creators but the classic duel between Ben Kenobi & Vader doesnât need updating. No extra speed or choreography. Itâs perfect and itâs very intentionally a chess match distraction. I kinda reeeeally donât like the reinterpretations.
Lando was perfectly used in TROS.
I loved Bradford Youngâs lighting choices in Solo. Loved âem. The film intentionally moves from dark visuals to bright visuals and I love what it does thematically. Iâm sorry if anyone had a theater experience that didnât support it but thatâs not the filmâs fault.
Outside of the Mudhorn signet addition (which I adore), I think I actually prefer the original Din Djarin armor. I wish it got to stick around a little longer.
Iâd honestly trade *most* of what weâre getting in the upcoming Star Wars slate for the Rian Johnson trilogy.
The Last Jedi has all four of the Top 4 performances in the saga. If you asked me to make a list, Daisy, Carrie, Adam, & Markâs work in THIS film not only stands out as all of their personal bests, but as THE best.
The Force is the best when itâs weird. One off instances of mystic realms. Passing matter through space. Weird life force theft. Metaphysical godlike beings. Visions. Prophecy. Minimal set rules. Just go for it. The combat powers are the least interesting aspect.
Snoke is a great character and I donât care even one bit that he was created by Palpatine & worked for him in some capacity.
The Lucas versions of the sequels (and there were several, ranging from the microbiological ones, to the Maul & Talon ones) wouldnât have been less controversial. There is no alternate timeline where toxic fans arenât toxic. Even for George. Remember how they used to treat him.
There should be a completely subtitled Star Wars show, movie, or special. Maybe starring a species like the Wookiees? Either way, it should happen.
Holdo was absolutely right about every single thing she said and did in TLJ, and I canât believe that even needs to be said.
Mara Jade should be brought into canon, but she doesnât need to be a part of the Luke story. Keep the aesthetic, the personality, and maybe even *some* of the backstory. Doesnât need to be in that time period though. Hell, Iâd bring her in for the sequel era.
If we ever get to see the earliest Jedi, and Iâm talking the *earliest,* (like at the formation) then I donât think they should have lightsabers. The idea that the Jedi carry swords rather than shields should always be an interesting thematic indicator.
I love K2, but Iâm okay with him not being in Andor. Later on is fine, but I think the show needs to focus on Cassian as a solo act, not as a part of one of our favorite pairs. (Plus, we already have their canon meeting.)
Snowtroopers are the lamest of the trooper variants. At least to me. Theyâre at the bottom of my list.
The Revenge of the Sith Palpatine makeup isnât great. Heâs always looked way too rubbery to me. Takes me out of it a little bit. Ian also starts doing kind of a different voice and itâs just weird.
The Offworld Jawas of Arvala-7 are the only Jawas that matter. I was never interested in them until Mando Chapter 2.
Finn should be the lead character if & when the sequel crew gets revisited. Let Rey shift to the prequel Obi-Wan or prequel Yoda role.
Hanâs âtrash compactorâ line in TFA is probably the one nostalgia joke that I really donât like. It took me out of the scene even on the first watch with all of the hype in the world coursing through my veins. Itâs just off.
General Hux was always a neo-Nazi punk loser and Iâm glad he was turned into more of a comedic character in VIII and IX. That was fitting, and Domhnall Gleeson nailed it.
I like when SW does things like including Maul in Solo. Itâs good *for Star Wars.* Maybe not for the individual viewing experience, but it validates animation, comics, novels, etc. in a way that other franchises donât have the chance to do. Any confusion is worth gambling on.
The opening space battle/chase scene in ROTS doesnât do much for me. Just not really into the buzz droid problems and whatnot. Iâm not fully locked in until they make it into the hangar (with that glorious Obi entrance).
Reverse-grip is the GOAT lightsaber combat style, and thatâs just science. The coolness simply cannot be contained. (And a huge shoutout to Charles Soule for writing that Porter Engle also uses this style.)
It is *entirely* too early to be upset about a lack of sequel era content. Everyone with a negative take on that is reading too much into it.
