I'm not frustrated at the topic of conversation here, I'm frustrated because I don't have my own interpreter that day and I'm using the guy that the USAID people brought. https://twitter.com/MikePerryavatar/status/1281912912186048512
"He's wonderful" and no. I had a couple of rockstar interpreters, guys with 7 or 8 years working with SOF and CIA and I loved those guys to death. They were performers and had my back. One was a legitimate warrior-poet. Another guy who I used for document translation, my scholar.
Having poor interpretation turns the day into a waste of time. Add to that the very legitimate risk of being ambushed on the way in to or way out from the meeting and it can be incredibly frustrating.
