I get frustrated explaining basic facts about ideology and politics. Compared to breakneck advances in technology, politics and philosophy have gone backwards over 75 years, especially the last 10. Sometimes, I despair at this shameful and catastrophic academic failure.
The lack of sophistication in universities about very simple political realities is astounding. EG: Most have no idea that information is not power. Saying this is as idiotic as saying Volts = Amps conveniently forgetting about Ohms in V=IR. It confuses influence with power. The
simple expression is Political power depends on Authority and Information. The way information flows relates to the the potential for the impotence of unintended consequences- the Achilles heel of authoritarianism. This blindingly simple observation is beyond most academics...
not so much in their Ivory Towers but more, nowadays, at the top of a Ziggurat of B.S.. They have little or no idea of The Inter-Subjective and the way propaganda attempts to warp and manipulate that domain and, instead, seem to be attracted to close to lunatic political fads.
