.7 As the number of daily new #Covid19 cases continue rising in 🇱🇧, an increasingly pressing question is asked, what to do? To avoid the infection, without going into lockdown, two words should define our conduct: Risk Reduction. Current knowledge then individual advice:
.7 What we know: #Covid19 is a 🦠that spreads mainly through droplets, and may be airborne. It occurs after contact with infected others, who may have no symptoms. Duration, proximity, and number of contacts is important. Age or medical conditions increase illness severety.
.7 Manage contact situations: Face mask reduce spread tremendously, but one needs to wear it before asking others to do so. Maintain a distance, the more the better. Limit the duration as much as possible. When taking a risk, one should choose their poison. Hadwashing is a must.
.7 Create a bubble: Social life is important. A “social bubble” means limiting who one socializes with. Likeminded friends who follow the same rules make it easier to uphold them. Keep it small, crowds facilitate spread, and better be avoided. In life, there is no free lunch.
.7 Manage your work: If one can, better work from a distance. If not, take as much precautions as possible (barriers, distancing,..). Businesses should implement safety measures, it is good for the brand and protects revenue. Employees and customers should enforce this message.
.7 Life is about choices: People who are older or have medical conditions should take extra precautions, even if it means severe limitations. Staying in touch with parents is important, but safety comes first. With #Covid19, people die alone often without goodbyes.
.7 Although we all wish it was, #Covid19 is not a hoax. Hundreds of thousands have died, and more shall probably do so before a solution is found. The pandemic, however, will pass. We will get our livelihoods back, but first, we have to preserve our lives. Stay safe.
