The same tired argument: why are y'all always so adamant about adding accessibility?

A counter: why are y'all so staunchly against it?
Like listen to what you legit just asked: 'why do y'all keep asking gaming companies to think critically about the populations who consume their games?'

IDK, because the gaming market is more than just able-bodied white dudes with 60+ free hours weekly?
I don't know how to explain this anymore. Accessibility isn't just 'make this game easier'; it's

-adding rebind options
-considering colourblindess
-adding different options for things like audio cues
-different modes to ENHANCE experiences
'but that wasn't the developers intention!'

Hot take: I'm also pretty sure it wasn't the developer's intention to gatekeep entire populations from their games.
Seriously: if adding rebinding (as an example) somehow breaks the game's story/immersion, that isn't the fault of the people asking for accessibility options: that's on the developer for making a shit story/experience.
How do we know this is true?

Y'all are falling all over yourselves for TLOU2 and it has some of the best accessibility options to date. It's been there this entire time, not fucking with your gaming experiences. LIKE WE SAID IT WOULDN'T.
Audio cues, HIGH CONTRAST MODE, subtitles (with size options!), difficulty, sub-difficulty (as in you can change core game difficulty, then tweak specific items as you'd like): TLOU2 has ALL OF THE ABOVE.

And y'all had NO PROBLEM just...avoiding stuff you didn't need.
So the question shouldn't be 'why do y'all harp on developers for not making games "more accessible"'--

It should be 'why are y'all so attached to your game(s) perceived difficulty that the idea of someone who is 'less skilled' wanting to enjoy the same game/space bothersome?'
And let me be clear: that's all it is.

Y'all will gladly gatekeep full time workers, people with disabilities, kids, whoever it takes for y'all to be able to hold on to a precious 'difficult' game and 'git gud' anyone who wants to criticize it/ask for more consideration.
This comes full circle when y'all love to use the same demographics you gatekeep out to justify why 'anyone can do it.' Some of my favorite speedrunners/challenge runners are disabled, mentally ill, or just minorities... (cont)
...but in one breath y'all will say 'this game isn't for you, fuck you', then in the next put people who you view as 'shouldn't be capable' on pedestals to your friends as proof that 'if they can do it, then anyone can.'

With your ableist asses.
and that's the last point I want to leave on: it's really fucking nasty how fast y'all will equate game difficulty to a person's able-bodiness. In ALL cases.

Maybe you should unpack why you'd rather uphold ableism than get more people into the games you enjoy.
Like I just...

Imagine thinking "its not OK that you want more games to be accessible to everyone" is a useful, non-problematic, and productive stance.
