These numbers have caused a lot of confusion and in turn has spread a lot of misinformation about rejected ballots. A thread since no one bothers to ask the people there everyday.

@mariteskaufer and I went on Tuesday to @BOENYC to request the numbers to determine how many have been preliminary rejected. What does that mean you ask? They are missing signatures, dates, postmarks and other issues. 2/
We were told the numbers were not ready and still being tabulated. Also, told we would be able to see the rejected ballots after the total ballots were opened per AD. 3/
@BOENYC made an announcement at the end of AD 23 to come to table 1 to review all preliminary invalidated ballots. We all sit down ready to then be asked for specific ED/ballots to pull for review. 4/
Everyone looked at each other
not knowing what to do. @BOENYC states that they will not bring out ANY to review unless we make a request to xerox copy the entire AD for review. 5/

I protest loudly that this is not what they stated to us for the past 48 hours while we waited for AD 23 to finish. I requested the number of preliminary rejected ballots in which I was given a xerox hand written list 6/
These numbers are before anything has been removed at the tables during the count. The ballots that have been disqualified during the count have been for dime in an envelope, sticky notes and @BOENYC instructions in the ballots. 7/
The amazing @Ali_Najmi took the instructions invalidation to court and won for those ballots to be counted. As of this afternoon, they began counting AD 25 rejected ballots that were set aside for instructions inside the envelope. 8/
No one outside of @Ali_Najmi and his slate had requested copies that were inside borough hall. No one else had reviewed copies of rejected ballots. ANYONE claiming to have seen thousands of rejected ballots, it’s not possible. It would take a few days at least to review them 9/
From what I gathered, 90% were for missing signatures. Many seniors had issues with placing the smaller envelope into the larger one and put them in the wrong order which invalidated them. 10/
@zellnor4ny @tobystavisky @jessicaramos @SenJoeAddabbo @SenGianaris @LeroyComrie @JSandersNYC If you want to resolve this, please help us inform voters of their need to sign ballots but pass legislation to resolve the issue. 11/
@ReformersNew is fighting everyday to count every vote but we cannot do it without major changes to the NYS election law. We believe in a #healthydemocracy and want every vote
counted. 12/

Please come and volunteer to observe the absentee ballot openings for our candidates or donate to @ReformersNew to support our work.
