Don’t simply say you won’t sign the Unite Norman petition. Ask where the petitioners live and have them cite their concerns. Was happy to enlighten the person who came to my door that the police are actually receiving more this year when he said City Council defunded them. (1)

Elimination of 9 vacant police positions resulted in a reduction of $865,321, which was re-allocated to a General Fund Reserve for Community Outreach of $630,321 to be appropriated by council at a future date, & $235,000 for an Internal Audit function, according to the city. (3)

For over a decade, there has been no additional funding for Education by the state legislature and we have absorbed lost positions & continued to add students—still at 2009 funding levels. Why no petition to remove them? Still waiting for REAL reasons behind this petition. (4)
