my comrade has been diligently reading the affidavits of folks facing serious charges from protests. they all have one thing in common: photographers are snitches...
photographers do not have to actively snitch (i.e. send their photos to the cops, volunteer their photos/videos) to be snitches. cops have other ways of getting photos, like coercion...
In Seattle, the cops went to photographers houses and requested additional photos. someone cooperated, and it lead to an arrest.
both of these individuals are facing decades in prison for their alleged crimes. photographers helped secure the identification of these individuals...
that’s not to say police couldn’t have done it without their help. security cameras, live streams, news broadcasts, body cameras, and poor security culture also played a role...
but the lesson here is that a photographer who isn’t willing to go to court to protect their photos (and maybe someone’s life) is a snitch...
even if the photos don’t get published, even if the videos don’t get posted, there’s still a chance that they will become evidence...
(much love to the photographers who will never cooperate with state, we love y’all <3)
(u should also be situationally aware at actions. cameras are cops- don’t do anything in front of a camera that you wouldn’t do in front of a cop)
