People keep telling me my tweets are depressing.

I get it. You’re tired of the pandemic. I am too. You’re tired of bad news. I am too. But I can’t conjure good news out of thin air. We all need to do our part.

Stay home, keep your distance, wash your hands, wear a mask

What do I mean by “Stay Home”?

Avoid unnecessary trips out of your house. For recreation, go somewhere there are few other people. Limit your time at essential tasks. The less crowded the stores are, the safer it is for essential employees.

What do I mean by “Keep your distance”?

As much as is possible, make sure you always have 6 or more feet of space between you and anyone you don’t live with. If there’s singing, yelling, or heavy breathing, step back even further.

What do I mean by “wash your hands”?

Soap & water works. Hand sanitizer is okay too. Wash your hands all over for 20 seconds. After you touch public or shared objects, after you get home, after you get deliveries.

(The good news: We are doing this well! Don’t stop now!)

What do I mean by “wear a mask”?

Masks are the last line of defense. They offer some protection if you HAVE to get close to people, not permission to get closer. Make sure to cover nose & mouth. Clean your hands before & after putting it on or off & then don’t touch

That’s it. It’s the same advice you’ve been given since March & I know it feels like it’s too simple.

“If the advice is so basic, how come we’re failing so badly at controlling this pandemic?”

It’s because so many aren’t following advice. But you can still do your part!
