Hard to really think clearly about that today...

Some players who are my favourites and enjoyed watching and believed could take us forward have let us down this season...

That's tough to take..
Jorginho and Rudiger in particular.

Two players I've at times loved watching, felt they had the right character for the club and could help us move forward, but I've sadly been proven wrong.

I will never abuse players, its just the harsh reality based on quality.
Some also who will likely never be at the right standard - Kepa, Christensen, Barkley that every now and then can show glimpses of brilliance but not consistently enough.
I still feel the young players have been the biggest positive of the season. I have no time for binning the idea of giving Tammy, Mason, Reece, Fikayo and Billy minutes because as we've seen at points this season they have been the best players.
Frank has reunited a fanbase that was toxically fractured and splintering into many sections last year, this part cannot be underestimated. It became unfun to be a Chelsea fan when every game became another referendum on the coach.
The style of play under Frank has shown glimpses of being exhilarating with pace, intensity and flair.

The six game winning run in Autumn with some outstanding attacking in the Burnley, Southampton, Wolves wins. The victory over Ajax - an incredible night.
The 4-4 against Ajax yes was madness but the feeling I had in the Matthew Harding as Reece's goal went in was incredible, the fight that team showed to not lay down. Moments that proved under Frank something really special can happen.
You can't deny the negative moments - the drab home defeats against low blocks with no creativity. The frantic moments where we lack any control or game management in a lead, and the defending which has been shocking since pre-season.
I don't think I can call this season a failure, based on where people felt we'd finish in August - easy in hindsight to change expectations. But I saw some putting us 8th-10th in this league.
The double over Spurs, Arsenal away, Ajax away, Liverpool FA Cup win and Man City win showed us at our best and what Frank can do with his team on big occasions.

Its the balance of the abject displays against the lesser teams that need rectifying..
Not all of the problems are Frank's responsibility. A transfer ban is still a major factor that many are quick to forget. When the likes of United have spent over £100m on a squad that finished only a couple of points behind us next season.
*last season I meant.
Frank is a young manager, it was always a risk and people shouldn't be stunned he will be inexperienced in moments – its his 2nd year as a Head Coach. This was the path Chelsea choose and we need to back it, for a season of transition, it could have been smoother but a lot worse.
Sorry for the rambling.
