Realizing weird parallels between the benefic of sect and the malefic out of sect. There are just thoughts i should be having when I am high.
So the benefic of sect is supposed to represent the most positive influence of the chart. But i think it simply reflects the goals and values of the sect of a chart. Meanwhile, the malefic contrary to sect represents challenges experienced in a particular sect.
The Diurnal Sect is one of illumination. There are clear rules and boundaries (Saturn). Individuality shines through (Sun). Things are more constant and cohesive (Jupiter). People gain recognition for individual achievements (Sun, Jupiter). Individual freedom shines here.
The Nocturnal Sect is one of obscurity. Boundaries are not always clear so they must be fought over and negotiated (Mars, Venus). A lot of this centers a need to feel through the dark and accommodate people/situations (Moon, Venus). Not cohesive, and very changeable (Moon, Mars).
This is what I am arguing: If the benefic of sect is the highest good that the sect aspires to, the malefic contrary to sect represents what is experienced when you cannot achieve the highest good.
Jupiter is the benefic of sect for the daytime. Diurnal nativities aspire to have the freedom to act as individuals, and want recognition and honors for the good work that they do. There are certain morals that they want to uphold, and encourage people to assimilate to them.
When Diurnals cannot uphold this principle, they lash out selfishly. They challenge authorities and shake the table because they want the biggest piece of the pie. It can be very me-me centered. A constructive Mars protects collective interests.
They shake the table when they feel that their freedoms are being constrained. They will subvert norms (Saturn, Jupiter) to create that sense of freedom and recognition that they feel is lacking.
Venus is the benefic of sect for the nighttime. Nocturnal nativities aspire to harmonizing with the collective and fitting in with others they might be different from. They want to explore certain tastes and pleasures, and possibly exchange them with others around them.
However, without clear boundaries around sharing and enjoying pleasures, nocturnal natives can experience issues with trusting others and acting in good faith. Without the clarity of light to allow boundaries to be defined naturally, they might give or take more than they should.
When nocturnals do not understand the appropriate nature of pleasant exchange, they can become stingy, secretive, and mistrustful. They might feel disconnected. They retreat from the collective to sulk rather than seeing the benefits of working together.
When this intuitive understanding is lost, nocturnals can take on burdens that are not their own just to appear unthreatening. They might flatten themselves without making room for their needs to coexist effectively with others in the collective
