If you don't even know that the term "moderate muslim" is insulting to Muslims, then you are probably not educated enough to speak on this issue.

When people say "moderate muslim", you are implying that they are not full, or REAL Muslims. You are saying that people who use Islam as an excuse to do heinous acts are the TRUE Muslims.

Do you not see how problematic that is?

Who gets to choose what moderate means anyway? The state? You? Who?

Muslims in Singapore are not following a sanitized version of Islam. And we never will just for you to feel more comfortable. Because we don't follow the ever changing whims of fallible human beings.

Is Robert Gregory Bowers, the shooter of the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting the face of Conservatives? Are everyone else just moderate conservatives?

Is Craig Hicks, the murderer of three Muslim students, the face of Atheism? Are everyone else just moderate Atheists?

Are the people in Myanmar persecuting the Rohingya the face of Buddhism? Are everyone else just moderate Buddhists?

Are we really saying that everyone else had it wrong, and that the ones doing the killings are following what their belief REALLY says?

If you really want to stop Islamophobia, then the first thing to do is learn about it from people who spend their lives learning it and living it. Not from the opinions of people who were never even part of that group (like LKY)...
