While we’re on the subject—how was Antonio Vivaldi never tried as a fucking witch???

Problems with the violin:
1) it’s loud as shit
2) far too vulgar (see: peg, f-hole, etc.)
3) you can practice for 10 years and still be shite (e.g.: myself)
4) if you make eye contact with someone while they’re playing, it’s like...indescribably sexual

‘Hey girlie’ girls are always violinists and ‘bruh’ girls are always violists/cellists and girl bassists are simply divine intervention

Tbh any lady musician, conductor, composer, tech, has my entire and utmost respect. Music is not necessarily an equal opportunity employer and classical music especially has a history of being incredibly exclusionary

Not to mention that the entire instrumental basis for European classical music was co-opted from other cultures. the modern violin is (most likely) based on Arabian, Indian, and Chinese stringed instruments

Idk I guess my thesis statement is that music is important and you can stick it to the white man by not gatekeeping classical music for yourself. I don’t think you don’t need any kind of musical background to just enjoy classical music

Granted, I was raised by musical purists who thought that humanity’s sonic peak occurred in 1967, so I guess it’s a form of personal rebellion to say that Vivaldi & Led Zep & Muse & Chika & Rage Against the Machine & Lady Gaga & Lil Nas X all deserve a seat at the same table
