I'm always confused when I run across Natives with big egos, like How??? cuz there is nothing more humbling than growing up Native cuz we roast each other hard and I even have to warn friends when they meet the fam for the first time.
Thinking about this cuz i remember introducing my mom to one of my professors & he was telling her how bright he thought I was & she was like "Johnnie? MY daughter who tried to make soup on the stove in a plastic bowl & didnt learn to tie her shoes til she was 17? That Johnnie?"
and the first time I introduced my mom to my white boyfriend at the time & she looked him up and down and said, "You're kind of pink for a white guy, but if my daughter wants to date a steamed shrimp, you'll do."

And do you know how many Natives have stories like mine??? I am so confused when I run across egotistical Natives cuz what the heck, where's your fam and why aren't they clownin' you? Did they not like you?
Cuz seriously, when I introduce folks to my fam, i have to warn them and let them know that if they roast you, they like you. If they are polite and well-behaved they think you suck
