Won’t even front. I thought Kepa was a brilliant goalie when he was at Athletic Club. He seemed like it. That’s the thing with him. His flaws aren’t too obvious. His mistakes look 50-50, so you feel like you’re being harsh when you complain or note it.

It’s the worst thing.
You’ll focus on his nice saves. Then mentally gloss over his bad sides. Because he makes errors that don’t look too bad. And he keeps making them.

Example. He positions poorly or takes a bad step to the wrong side. All of a sudden, a basic shot seems unsaveaeble. So you wonder.
There are goalkeepers that make hard saves look easy. There are goalkeepers that Male hard saves look hard.

Then there’s Kepa. He makes relatively easy situations look impossible. Like he’ll actually die if he makes the save. It’s so upsetting because I really liked this guy.
His positioning is so often bad. The things he does when a shot is about to come in put him at a disaadvantage. Then his reflexes...

That Zaha shot. He made it hardwork. I remember the header right in front of him going to his head that he acrobatically ducked, diving backwards.
I remember all the arguments I had back then over that Sturridge shot. I said it then that it was saveable. Okay, you’re a short goalie. You have to position properly to make up for it and move well before the shot comes in. This guy will take the step that makes it impossible.
Salah’s shot at Anfield. Like come on. You’ve got to at least get close to it. Why the hell are you somehow positioned in Jupiter. Now everyone thinks it’s unsaveable.
