1/ The words ‘cancel culture’ have been thrown around a lot. It’s worth taking a few moments to consider what cancel culture is really about. Please share… The objective of cancel culture isn’t removing statues, stopping racism or re-writing our history.
2/ It’s far deeper, more dangerous and sinister than that. Cancel culture is a coordinated and structured attempt to silence and eradicate opposition to a harmful Marxist, left wing worldview and groupthink.
3/ It is to deny people who hold different views or beliefs any opportunity to contribute to public debate and to prevent them sharing their thoughts.
4/ It is to ensure those people have no opportunity to invite others to question the worldview and beliefs of the extreme left wing so called ‘progressives’. It's because the arguments and demands of the ‘progressives’ fall apart under scrutiny.
5/ 'Progressives' have learned that to get their way they need to avoid that scrutiny. They don’t want free speech. They only want speech that fits their narrative. They want to prevent any dissent or challenge to that narrative being heard.
6/ The way they do it is profoundly disturbing. We’ve all seen different instances of what they do, but often don’t realise that these instances are joined up. Let's refresh our memories about some of the main techniques they deploy...
7/ Corrupt – The progressives change the meaning of words so they control what people can say and how they must think. This sets a trap for normal people.
8/ Demonise - People who disagree with the ‘progressives’ get accused of being ‘phobic’ or ‘hate speech’, which is anything the Marxists don’t agree with.
9/ Fake Outrage – Complaints with these false accusations pour in to publishers, social media platforms or institutions, while fellow travellers start a ‘pile on’.
10/ Intimidate – Publishers, platforms and institutions are pressured to ban, suspend or exclude the target for their supposed offence under threat of protest. Over the years organisations have been captured by ‘progressives'. Their demands are met. Their offenders are protected.
11/ Destroy – Employers of the people are then pressured to sack them with the implicit threat that failure to do so will mean bad publicity and protests. Media treats the target as an extremist and excludes them adding to the pressure.
12/ Deny - Those who revert to social media to make their voices heard then have accounts closed, hosting refused and searches blocked by the 'progressives' who control those platforms.
13/ It’s taken years for the Marxists to put these pieces into place. The result is the "cancel culture" we see today. It is real. It is dangerous. It is outrageous censorship. It is a concerted attempt to control what we think and what we can say.
14/ Over to you. To counter this onslaught, to preserve freedom of thought, free speech and an open society, we surely now need our own strategies to counter this Marxist attempt to control us. What do you think? Any ideas?
