There is a lot of brilliant, brilliant stuff going on RIGHT NOW for me professionally, as a Black woman in the EY (Early Years) stuff that after 16 years of field research deh pon the gullyside I’ve decided it’s time to knock the door of the big house and deliver a message.
I seldom use this app for “work” because tbh I feel that the Instagram community is my safe space and place. I connect with my peoples there and they represent a true intersection of the families, the workforce and the re-imagining of a sector which includes an abundance of
Black voices. The tapestry is rich and varied, the voices are booming and loud and tbh it’s my kinda party

There is a woman who has been in these EY streets much longer than me, a woman who, without hesitation opened doors, windows, air vents,cat flaps, the sun roof EVERY blind and curtain in the damn house and calmly said;
“Liz, come through sweetie” ... She is the EPITOME of LUXURY Aunty, she is THE Fairy Godmother of EY for ME and so many other younger Black EY professionals moving and shaking in this space and what I love most about her is that her guidance is filled with authenticity .
You see @IamLauraHenry, WE must all protect her at ALL costs. Anything you’ve seen me doing professionally very recently has been because SHE has insisted doors get buss open and stay open for me to come through and as a Black woman it’s even more impactful.
The EY sector at a certain level is elitist, it’s racist, and it upholds the values of White supremacist structures. It knows very well whom it wants sat at its table and who it doesn’t. I use my language with intention and @IamLauraHenry saw in me an energy of FIRE without
an attempt to dull me down or dampen my spirit. She’s added lighter fuel and pushed me forward and and I’m HERE FOR IT and eternally grateful. I believe strongly in giving people their flowers whilst they can smell them and Laura here they are
