The Stone sentence commutation is a dark day for this country and for the Department of Justice. Of all Trump's corrupt interventions and subversions of the normal workings of the criminal justice system, this is the most corrupt. (more)

Stone was a key intermediary between the Russian intelligence services who hacked the 2016 election, the Trump campaign, and Trump himself. Stone then lied about what he had done to both Congress and the Mueller investigation. (more)

Stone was tried and convicted of significant crimes -- even AG Barr acknowledged it was a righteous prosecution -- but because Stone could have sunk the President with truthful testimony, and he and Trump both knew it, Stone knew help was coming at some point and in some way.

He openly said Trump owed him for keeping his mouth shut. Stone kept it shut, and he has now received his corrupt reward. If the remedy of impeachment still meant anything, it would be used now. But we learned that with the desiccated GOP in its current state, it won't be.

Instead, we will hear a set of limp and nonsensical responses from members of the GOP. Nothing Nixon did was remotely this bad.
