Since 2009 I have been monitoring & send home a msg that NSCN(IM) is moving into new territory ie Tirap Changlang districts. I had briefed 2 CMs ie Shri Khandu Dorjee & Shri Gamlin. Eastern Arunachal is a gold mine & NSCM(IM) though in a ceasefire with the GOI has over the years, unfortunately by hoodwinking certain officials in the MHA managed to break the other Dominant group ie NSCN(K) who were by & large peaceful.+3

Post the TSD saga the incumbent 2 chiefs started targeting the NSCN(K) leasing to reprisal that ended up with killing of brave jawans of Dogra Battalion as a retaliation in Manipur

Eastern Arunachal is attractive to the NSCN (IM) from the point of “TAX COLLECTIONS” in what we “call extortion”or “Rangdari”.
Money is collected from all govt contractors, colliery, forest, tea plantations and Oil refineries other than road construction etc.+5

Controlling Eastern Arunachal by this group also helps it in overseeing & controlling areas in neighbouring Myanmar and Kachin areas. +6

Though nothing much comes but it gives them access for weapon transshipment from China to India along the Indo Myanmar border, through Myanmar where the presence of Myanmarese army is as good as neglible.
Now that NSCN(IM) has made a foothold, it will be long battle +7

Last but not the least, there are 12 assembly seats in the area of Tirap Changlang & Longding.
He who controls this area, controls these seats.
These 12 seats as a combine also decide which party will rule Arunachal.
Earlier too the govt of Gegong Apang came into minority.

The NSCN(IM) despite in cease fire buys & trades weapons from China and sells it to the naxals in the hinterland.
The convoy of congress that was ambushed by the naxals in central India was sold by this group.
